O noble Shaykh - may Allaah preserve you - this question says: What is the ruling upon a woman looking at men on the televison like her looking at the callers and scholars while they give lectures?

'Allaamah Saalih Al Fawzaan - may Allaah protect him: By Allaah this is a tribulation. This issue of displays, this topic and appearance of men in front of women and women in from of men, this is a calamity. She can listen to exhortation and lessons from the radio and she should not watch the picture. Yes.

Jazaak Allaahu khayran...

Shaykh al-Albaanee is cited in a reply to the same post on sahab, quoting Al-Haafith Ibn al-Qattaan (d.628) as saying:

I do not know of any differing over the permissibility of a woman looking at a man's face, so long as she is not looking with desire and there is no chance of fitnah... Similarly, I do not know of any differing about the permissibility of men appearing with their hair, forearms, or calves exposed in the presence of other men, or in the presence of women.
