Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah Jabir ibn 'Abdullaah (radiallaahu 'anhu) said: | quote: |
"When you fast, your hearing has to fast, your sight has to fast, your tongue has to fast. ...And do not make your fasting day like your normal day." |
|
Shaikh Saalih Aalish Shaikh, said, "This is the complete fast."

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah The Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, | quote: |
Verily Allaah is the Ever-Living (Al-Hayy), The Concealer (As-Sateer); He loves sitr (covering, concealing or protecting)." |
|
'Abdullaah ibn Mas'ud (radiallaahu 'anhu) said, | quote: |
"If you knew my sins, you would throw dust on my head." |
|
Shaikh Salim at-Taweel (hafidhahullaah) said, | quote: |
"When people praise you, people are trully praising Allaah's hijab (screen) which He screened your sins with. As-Sateer (The Concealer) is from Allaah's Names." |

__________________________________________________________________________ What to say when praised Allaahumma laa tu'aakhithnee bimaa yaqooloona, waghfir lee maa laa ya'lamoona [waj'alnee khayram-mimmaa yadhunnoon]. Translation: O Allaah , do not call me to account for what they say, and forgive me for what they have no knowledge of [and make me better than they imagine]. Reference: Al-Bukhari, Al-'Adabul-Mufrad no. 761. See Al-Albani, Sahih Al-'Adabul-Mufrad (no. 585). The portion between brackets if from Al-Bayhaqi, Shu'ab Al-Iman 4/228, and comes another account. Note: this du'aa has been reported as the statement of: - Aboo Bakr as-Siddeeq (Usd al-Ghaabah in Aboo Bakr's biography) - Ibn 'Umar, the freed slave of 'Afrah (Az-Zuhd of Ibn Mubaarak, p.14) - "One of the Companions," unnamed (Az-Zuhd of Ahmad, p.205) - Yazeed ibn Maysarah (Hilyat al-Awliyaa, 5/240) - Al-Awzaa'ee (Shu'ab al-Eemaan #4875) - "Some of the Salaf," unnamed (Shu'ab al-Eemaan #4876) None of them attributed it to the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), so it seems to be that the best-case scenario is that it is from Aboo Bakr and then some of the taabi'oon and those after them. http://www.salafitalk.net/st/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=11&Topic=6986

Abu Khaithama narrated to us, saying: Ishaaq bin Sulaymaan Ar-Raazee narrated to us, saying: I heard Handhala narrate from `Awn bin Abdillaah that he said: I said to `Umar bin Abdul-Azeez: "It was said (to me): If you are able to be a Scholar, then be a Scholar. And if you are not able to, then be a Student of Knowledge. And if you are not able to be a Student of Knowledge, then love them. If you cannot love them, then do not hate them." So `Umar said: "Subhaan'Allaah (Glory be to Allaah)! Allaah has indeed assisted this individual in a time of difficulty." - Source - Point [2], Kitaabul-Ilm of Imaam An-Nasaa'ee [Al-Haafidh, Imaam, Abu Khaithama Zuhayr bin Harb An-Nasaa'ee Died 234H], with verification and notes by Imaam Muhammad Naasir-Ud-Deen Al-Albaanee [Raheemahumullaah].

كم بينكم وبين القوم؟ أقبلت عليهم الدنيا فهربوا منها، وأدبرت عنكم فاتبعتموها. How far you are from them [meaning the Companions] ! The world [and its delights] approached them; and they ran away from it. While it is running away from you; and you are chasing it ! كيف أنتم اذا لبستكم فتنة يهرم فيها الكبير و يربوا فيها الصغير اذا ترك منها شيء قيل: تركت السنة, قا لوا: ومتى ذاك؟ قال: اذا ذهبت علماؤكم, وكثرت جهلاؤكم, وكثرت قراؤكم وقلت فقهاؤكم, وكثرت أمرؤكم, وقلت أمناؤكم, والتمست الدنيا بعمل الآخرة, وتفقه لغير الدين أخرجه الدارمي برواية علقمة في الجزء الأول باب: "تغير الزمان وما يحد ث فيه 'How will you be when you are covered with Fitnah, when the elder grows old, the young grows up, When any of it is left it will be said 'The Sunnah has been abandoned' They said, 'When will this be'? He said, ' When you Ulamaa have gone, and your ignorant become many, and you recitors become many, and your Fuqahaa are few, and you rulers are many, and your trustworthy ones are few, and the dunyaa is sought with the actions of the Aakhirah and one attains understanding for other than the deen'.

As salaam Alaykum.. Here is a quote Shaykh Ubayd al-Jaabiree brings in His introduction of ?Al-Fataawa al-Muhimma Fee Tabseer al Ummah?. It is a statement of Ibn Mas?ood: I have had it translated to me, but I am hoping one of the brothers can translate it on the forum for the benefit of the brothers and sisters on the forum! BaarakAllaahu Feekum Assalaamu Alaykum!

Bakr ibn 'Abd-Allah Al-Muzanee said :- "Beware of saying something that, even if you were right about it, you would not be rewarded for having said it. And if you were wrong about it you would be punished for having said it. This is (saying an) evil suspicion about your brother in faith" Refer to the biography of Bakr ibn 'Abd-Allah Al-Muzanee in Tdheeb-ut-Tadheeb Abu Nu'aym quoted Abu Qulaabah "Abd-Allah ibn Zaid Al-Jurmee as saying "If you hear something that you do not like about your brother, then try as hard as you can to find an excuse for him. If you cannot find an excuse for him then say to yourself: perhaps my brother has an excuse that I cannot think of" Al-Hilya (Vol.2/page 285) Sufyan ibn Husayn said : "I mentioned something bad about a man in the presence of Iyaas ibn Mu'aawiyah who looked at me and said : "Have you fought against the Romans?" I said : 'No', He said : "What about Sind and India and Turkey?" I said : 'No', He said : 'Rome, Sind, India, and Turkey are all safe from you but your Muslim brother is not safe from you?!" Sufyaan ibn Husayn said : "I never did that again."" Al-Bidaayah wan-Nihaayah (Vol.13/page 121)

SahihMuslim.Com الطهارة (The Book of Purification) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No. 432 Abu Malik at-Ash'ari reported: The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: Cleanliness is half of faith and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allaah) fills the scale, and Subhan Allaah (Glory be to Allaah) and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allaah) fill upwhat is between the heavens and the earth, and prayer is a light, and charity is proof (of one's faith) and endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur'an is a proof on your behalf or against you. All men go out early in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves.

From Tafsir ibn Kathir (abridged. English Translation, published by Darussalaam) Vol 3. page 348: Al-Hasan Al-Basri (rahimahullah)said, "Whomever Allaah gives provision and he thinks that Allaah is not testing him, has no wisdom. Whomever has little provision and thinks that Allaah will not look at (provide for) him, has no wisdom." He then recited the Ayaah, ?So, when they forgot (the warning) with which they had been reminded, We opened to them the gates of every (pleasant) thing, until in the midst of their enjoyment in that which they were given, all of a sudden, We took them to punishment, and lo! They were plunged into destruction with deep regrets and sorrows.? (Al-An'am 6:44) He added, "By the Lord of the Ka'bah! Allaah deceived these people, when He gave them what they wished, and then they were punished." Ibn Abi Haatim recorded this statement. [Ad-Durr Al-Manthur 3:270, Ibn Abi Haatim 4:1291]

Sufyaan Ath-Thawree (d. 161H) said, "Hence you must take to the original affair, hold tight to it, and you should take to being unknown, for indeed this is the age to remain unknown. And take to remaining aloof, secluded, and associating little with the people, because when people used to meet, some of them would benefit the others. But as for today, then that has gone and in our view, salvation lies in abandoning them." Related by Aboo Nu'aym in Al-Hilyah (6/376-377)
