Barakallahu fiqum I am sure that somehow there may be a connection between the strike and work stoppages and protests, but i can't work with what I think. This is in reference to the contract dispute with Verizon in the US. They have allowed the Jehovah's Witnesses not to participate even though they are members of the union. The Muslims need a definitive statement that it is not permissible in Islam to be involved in such activity in order to get the same exemption without having to suffer the fitnah that comes from union membership. Jazakallahu khairan

here is a lecture about democracy, if i remember correctly it has some info about demonstrations/protests too (since they are a by-product of democracy): http://www.spubs.com/sps/sad/mp3.cfm?scn=dl&LeID=43
As salaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu Dear respected brothers Could someone please direct me to a fatwa stating the hukum on the permissibility of striking or work stoppages in contractual disputes with one's employer. Barakallahu fiqum.
