"Young jihadists joining Iraqi resistance an embarrassment?; Islamic leaders, people should unite" - Salmaan al-'Awdah

quote:

?We strongly oppose the idea of letting young jihadists fight against the US Army in Iraq just as we had earlier opposed allowing them to go to Afghanistan,? Islamic Intellectual (?) and General Supervisor of Islam Al-Yawm website Dr Salman Al-Awdah told Al-Rai. ?The number of young foreigners joining the Iraqi resistance against the US occupation is negligible as they comprise only no more than five per cent of the total population of jihadists,? added Al-Awdah indicating this move is an embarrassment not only to the Iraqi resistance but also to Islam.

Calling for a unified stand among all Islamic groups, Al-Awdah said ?the Islamic leaders and their people should unite. Muslim groups should forget nominal differences in their beliefs as an internal strife among Islamic groups would only be beneficial to the enemy.?

"Let us unite and cooperate in that which we agree upon, and excuse one another in that which we differ in." -Hasan al-Banaa

One should not be surprised by Salmaan al-'Awdah's call for "the Islamic leaders and their people" to unite and for the different sects and jamaa'aat to "forget nominal differences in their beliefs", for this is not a new call, and indeed Salmaan bounces from one end of the spectrum of extremism and deviation to the other.
Now we see him sitting with and cooperating with those who he used to vehemently  oppose, illustrated here by his sitting with soofees in Saudi Arabia:

quote:

Salman al-Odah, the country's most popular puritanical cleric, who was jailed in the 1990s for opposing the presence of U.S. troops in the kingdom, accepted an invitation to visit Sufi cleric Abdallah Fadaaq's mawlid and lesson last week. The scene at Fadaaq's house was an obvious sign of conciliation.

Al-Odah sat with his hands neatly folded in his lap, wearing a red-and-white checkered headdress and clear wraparound glasses and sporting the short scraggly beard that indicates a conservative. Fadaaq, who at 39 is emerging as the new symbol of Hejazi Sufism, wore the white turban, the white overcoat and shawl typical of Sufis, wooden prayer beads resting on his lap. "It's true that there are differences between the way people practice their faith in this country, and this is an indication that people are using their minds and thinking, which is a good thing," Fadaaq said. "But what we should concentrate on are the expanses that bring us together, like the prophet. We must take advantage of what we have in common."

Likewise, just last month here in Kuwait - may Allaah preserve it and protect its citizens from these people and their ideologies - Salmaan participated in a conference alongside Dr. Taariq as-Suwaydaan, 'Aa'id al-Qarnee and the soofee dog al-Habeeb 'Alee al-Jaffree, dubbed as the "Family Innovation Conference" (more like Family of Innovation conference with these goons joined together!). Here is a list of the speakers and their profiles, and the schedule of the conference can be viewed here.
So Salmaan's call is not just empty speech, unlike 'Abdur-Rahmaan 'Abdul-Khaaliq calling to jihaad in Bosnia being obligatory upon everyone and then asking Allaah to forgive him for not going(!!).  Rather we see Salmaan  physically sitting with the soofees, shee'ah, Ikhwaanul-Mujrimeen and other than them and cooperating with them.

So here is Salmaan calling the people to forget their differences in 'aqeedah and come together for one united goal, and that is to repel the U.S. Forces -who are in 'Iraaq with treaties and covenants with the legislated, shar'ee ruler - from 'Iraaq.  Shee'ah, Sunnees, Khawaarij and others uniting upon what they all have in common (i.e. fighting against the U.S.) - which is prohibited to begin with due to the ruler having treaties with them - and excusing one another in regards to their "nominal differences" in their beliefs.  Due to this confusing, destructive call, we find many people today cannot distinguish between Truth and falsehood, and become emotional in trying to understand current situations facing the Muslims today.  So you have a situation like that which took place in Lebanon where you found Sunnee Muslims, due to this destructive call, taking to the streets in protests alongside the shee'ah, holding up posters of Hasan Nasrullah and chanting "We are Hezbollah!  We are Hezbollah!"  Can you imagine someone ascribing themself to a group of people who make shirk with Allaah, believe their imaams are better than the Malaa'ikah and the Prophets and curse the Best of Generations?!  But this exactly the type of thing this call brings about.

And then you have those who ascribe themselves to Salafiyyah and it's Scholars, like we have seen here in Kuwait, who openly proclaim "There are no Sunnis, there are no Shiites - only Muslims", "I am a sunnee and I love the shee'ah!... And it is better that we say all together: 'We are Muslims and all of us are Muslims'...", until they reach the state where they say: "What is it that prevents the Sunnees and shee'ah from praying in one masjid?", and worse than that!

So it is upon us to warn the people from such destructive calls, and to not  get caught up in the emotional fires that the likes of these individuals kindle in the hearts of the Muslim masses.
We ask Allaah to make us see the Haqq as Haqq and the baatil as baatil and to guide us to that which He loves and is pleased with.
