Bismillaah wa salaatu wa salaamu ala arasoolillah wa ala alihe wa ashabihe ajma'een,

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

How sinful can a person be before it can be said that he or she is no longer upon salafeeyah?  In other words what types of sins if done in excess or in moderation can negate a persons manhaj.  As I understand it is not enough for a person to only be sinful in order to be outside of the manhaj of the salafus-saliheen but they must be of those whom commit a specific type of sin in order for this to happen.

For example you may find a brother/sister who might say he/she is salafee but he/she listens to music or the man shaves his beard, or the sister wears faulty hijaab(too tight, to short as in the jilbaab being above her ankle purposely, or it has attractive designs etc,).  Then you might find on the other hand a brother/sister whom do not implement the proper ahkam of the salaah and wudhoo, or he does not pray in congregation and other sins that have to do with ?ibaadah.  Now in these two examples are either of these men/women in a "better" position than the others and are still able to say he/she is upon salafeeyah?

I ask because you may find amongst US *ignorant brothers/sisters the act of ?throwing? one another off of the manhaj because of obvious sins that the other may have with them.  Are there any concise books (in English for those of us whom are miskeen in the language) that we can reference to grasp a proper understanding in this matter?  Jazahum Allaah fee Kulli Khairun

*Ignorant as in unlearned or lacking proper knowledge of a matter.
