Al Hamdullillah was salaatu was salaamu 'ala rasoolillahi,

Amma ba'd:-

After our very recent visit to the kingdom and visiting our mashaaikh, Shaikh Rabee ibn Haadi Al-Madkhali, Shaikh Muhammad ibn Haadi al-Madkhali, and others it has become evidently clear that their criticisms of Shaikh Faalih Ibn Naafi? that we began to hear of before embarking upon our journey, are correct and haq, and that the sheikh is clearly erroneous in regards to that which he has fallen into from making a difference between the ulamaa of hadeeth and jarhi wat ta?deel and other than them from the people of knowledge in the affair of making jarh of ahlul bid'ah, and likewise other principles that ahlul ilm have clarified are incorrect and false.

On that basis I say that the article I wrote some 18 months ago in defence of the Scholars who spoke against abul hasan and those who support him and their shubuhaat entitled ?Al Fawaariq? was based upon the incorrect speech of sh faalih and some of those false principles, the like of which I personally heard from him on more than one occasion.

After reading the article this morning at approx 9.15am (Saudi time) on this day Saturday the 26th June 2004 to our Sheikh Rabee ibn Haadi al-Madkhali, hafidhahullah, in his home, the affair is as the sheikh mentioned to me ?feehi haq wa baatil? (?in it (i.e. the article) is truth and falsehood..?). Thus I say, even though it was in essence a product of our having good suspicions concerning the knowledge and perception of Sheikh Faalih, I still categorically free myself from it, and repent to Allah for having written it and it being spread, for indeed as some of the salaf used to say ?to return to the haq is fadheelah (nobility)'. Thus reliance in this issue should be upon that which has been written by Shaikh Rabee' and that which he continues to write, and that which has been written by the Imaams of jarhi wat ta?deel of the past in the affair of making jarh of ahlul-bid?ah.

Indeed this is just another example of the true nature of the statement of the Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa salam) "This knowledge is carried in every generation by the trustworthy ones, They repel from it the distortions of those who go beyond bounds, the fabrications of those who falsify and the (incorrect) interpretations of the ignorant" (Collected by al-Khateeb in 'Sharfu Ashaabil Hadeeth p29) - Just as it is an example of the fact that our ulamaa aren?t affected by anything in clarifying the haq to the Ummah.

Wa sallallahu ?ala nabiyyinaa Muhammad.

Abu Hakeem Bilal Davis.
