As-salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Is anyone aware of the state of affairs of the Muslims who may have been affected by Hurricane Katrina? Surely there are brothers and sisters in Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi and/or Florida?

Mu'aadh ibn Jabal (radi'Allaahu'anhu) said:

"Knowledge is a comforting friend in times of loneliness, it is the best companion during travels, and it is the inner friend who speaks to you in your privacy.  Knowledge is the discerning proof of what is right and what is wrong, and it is the positive force that will help you surmount the trials of comfort, as well as those of hardships. Knowledge is your most powerful sword against your enemy, and finally, it is your most dignifying raiment in the company of your close companions."

As-salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Ya Salafiyoon,

This apparent catastrophe that has befallen the people of New Orleans, Biloxi and other areas should serve as a reminder to us all.  Of the Power and Might that only belong to Allah.  And I seek refuge in Allah that such a calamity would befall any of us, amin.

I am just appealing, that perhaps some type of relief effort on our part could be coordinated.  It is mass pandemonium down there.  If even one Salafi is down there, that is one Salafi too many.  Our brothers and sisters have rights over us.  Our elders and the youth have rights over us.

I am thinking about sisters who may be single, or sisters who may have children, babies that need to be breastfeed, brothers that are wondering where their families are.  The state of affairs is described as "sheer chaos."  Their most basic hygienic needs cannot be met.  What about the sisters who have their menses? What about wudu and ghusl?  Babies haven't had their diapers changed in 3 days, wa la hawla wa la quwatta illa billah!

I was thinking how the people either stayed because they had no money or nowhere to go, or left.  Those that stayed, Allahu Alim of their condition.  Many lost everything.  Many have been staying on the roofs of their houses for 2 days now.  The likely of cholera and other diseases is great, not to mention the snakes and jellyfish in the water. Or the rampant looting and shooting going on and the RAPING OF WOMEN.  I fear the position that our brothers and sisters are being put in.

Some of the people have been dispersed to the Houston Astrodome, or fled to areas such as Tennessee, Atlanta, Birmingham and other Southern areas.  I am saying that perhaps the Salafi Masajid of Atlanta, Texas and Birmingham, Alabama (I believe there's a Dawah Center there) could perhaps organize some type of caravan or other, to even go and see the state of affairs of people.

I don't have any other suggestions.  No, I don't know how they should seek out the people.  I do know that the Salafis that are stuck there, or left, need our help badly.  They will need to be relocated, housed, clothed, fed.  I am quite certain they will even probably relocate as far as the East Coast (especially Philly and D.C.)  This is a reality. Their most basic necessities need to be attended to.

This is an open call to all of the Salafiyoon to assist our brothers and sisters regarding this apparent Musiba.  People don't even have food or water.  I don't want to be held accountable on Yaumal Qiyamah, that I didn't try to help or do something.  I'm not suggesting that anyone reading this does, either, nor am I trying to offend anyone.  And we know the reward of removing a difficulty for the Muslim in this life.  Which of the favors of our Lord will we deny?

Again, perhaps the brothers/administration of those Masajid (and I only mention them, because they are physically closest to those areas, and probably could reach them quickest) could coordinate something.

My children told me they would forsake their allowance and would like donate some clothing to help.  I do realize the great possibility of this being a severe punishment (i.e. wrath) from Allah on those people (qadr Allah, they also happen to be the 3 most poverty stricken, racist and oppressive states in this country), as well as a test for them, I just think (and Allah knows best in all matters) that insha'allah, the Salafiyoon should try to do something.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah if I am incorrect in what I am saying.  I don't know if this is a matter that should be brought to the 'Ulema in how to coordinate it, I'm just a sister who is thinking about the rights of my sisters and brothers.

Anything that I have said that is correct is from Allah and anything that I have said that is incorrect is from the Shaytan and myself.

As-salaam alakum

Ya Ikhwan wa Akhawat.

This Hurricane Katrinah Allah hu Mustaian is something.  Yes we should look to see if there are some of the muslims that need some assistance that have been displaced by this hurricane. As of course there are muslims and even Salafiyoon down there for sure, just like any other place on the globe.

Maybee some of the know Salafi Sites that have the capability and know how to start some collection service or whatever can be of assistance for those Muslims affected. Also those brothers and sisters that are from there and or may know those down there.  More than likely this will be a long term situation,

As Im sure none of us will like to be in a similar situation. Just imagine if you and your wife and kids had to live in that Superdome. How comfortable would you be. How comfortable would your wife in Hijab be? How, How, How.... So if we can be of any assistance to our brothers and sisters from there we should look and see what it is.

Wa Sallahu Wa salam wa barak ala Nabiyan Muhammad
