The Saudi Arabian Higher Judicial Council headed by Shaykh Salih Al-Luhaydan has today issued an announcement that, due to the confirmation tonight of the sighting of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah on Tuesday night, the month of Dhul-Hijjah 1425 began on Tuesday 11 January 2005, and that accordingly the Day of ?Arafah will be on Wednesday 19 January 2005 and Eid Al-Adha will be on Thursday 20 January 2005. This is a correction to the previous announcement which was based on completing the month of Dhul-Qa?dah as 30 days since no witnesses had approached the courts to confirm the crescent sighting prior to tonight.
