As-Salaamu'Alaikum wa'Rahma tu'Llah.
I have a book by our shaikh Abu' Bakr Ahmad ibn al-Husayn al-Bayhaqi (died 1066, Rahimahu'Llah), the book, "The Seventy-Seven Branches of Faith" translated by Abdal-Hakim Murad (red, soft-backed book). My question is that it notes prior to the muq'adima that the book was reprinted with minor amendments in '96 (initially printed in 1990), I was told to question about it, though it was written by our noble Shaikh al-Imam al-Bayhaqi. Is this book and it's translation jayyid? Shaikh Abdullah Al-Jarbou' (hafithahu'Llah) spoke highly of al-Bayaqi's works this past sunday during the Ilm Online, which brought to attention my asking about this particular book.
In the two sahihs (Bukhari & Muslim), on the authority of Abu'Hurayra, that the Prophet (sal'Allahu'alayhe wa'salaam) said, "Faith has sixty-odd, or seventy-odd branches, the highest and best of which is to declare that there is no god but Allah, and the lowest of which is to remove something harmful from a road. Shyness too, is a branch of Faith."

As-salaam-u-alaykum,
about the translator, he is a well-known sufi. Cambridge is unfortunately a bastion of sufis. Maybe our brother, Abu Aisha who lived in Cambridge for longer than myself can add to this. I have the book but never read it. I know for sure that as usual with ahl-ul-bidah, they can't help injecting their poison whenever they get a chance. I remember a brother, maybe it was Abu Aisha, who showed me a footnote in that book, where the translator puts the 'Wahaabis' alongside other groups such as the khawaarij. Hope this helps.

Barak'Allahu'feek. This information helps. Can anyone elaborate on the actual book itself? Has anyone of the 'ulamah found error in it?? Is there a translation available from one upon salafiyyah???
