Bismillaah.
What appears below is what we have come to know lately of Fareed Abdulllah and some clarifications he has made. This information is being conveyed by myself and is based upon what has been said by Abu Uways, Abu Rumaysah and Anwar Smith after their discussions with Fareed Abdullah.
Fareed declares he is Salafi as defined by Sh. Ahmed ibn Yahya an-Najmee in his book Fataawa al-Jalee?ah. Hence, Fareed has started to teach the book by Sh. Saalih al Fawzaan, ?Regarding New Methodologies?. These are issues amongst others that he has clarified in a two-tape recording with Abu Muhammad al Jamaikee and two other individuals, and an independent lecture that he gave at his masjid- Masjid Mu?min, Los Angeles, California. He has declared that he is free from all organizations and individuals who are not upon the manhaj of the Salaf. He mentions specifically but not exclusively: ISNA, ICNA, IANA, Tableeghi Jamaa?at, Ikhwanee Muslimoon, Jihaadees, Takfirees, Sooroorees, Qutoobees, etc. He stated that he was free of the following individuals and has warned against them and has promised to warn against them in the future, insha Allaah, such as; Abu Muslimah, Abu Usaamah adh Dhahabee, Jamal Zarabozo, Waleed Basyouni, Siraaj Wahaj, Bilal Phillips, Saleh as Sawih (from Open University), Zayd Shakir, Jamil al Alamin, Salem Morgan, Yusef Qaradawi, Abul-Hasan al Ma?ribee, Safar and Salman, Adnan Ar?oor, etc. He mentioned that he may have answered invitations of certain people having good thoughts about them until their manhaj was made clear to him. He made judgment calls that were clearly mistakes but won?t happen again, insha Allah, and that he is upon the way of the Salaf and with our Scholars of today in his belief and methodology. The likes of; Sh. Rabee? ibn Hadee al Madkhalee, Sh. Zayd ibn Hadee al Madkhalee, Sh. Ahmad an Najmee, Sh. Saalih al Fawzaan, Sh. Faalih al Harbee, Sh. ?Ubayd al-Jaabiree, Sh. Saalih as Suhaymee, Sh. Muhammad al Banna, Sh. Muhsin al Abbaad, and the rest. He says this so that his position can be known and clear. So that the one who lives can live on clarity and the one who dies can die upon clarity.
