update...

The schedule has been updated to show a few adjustements, so refer again to the post above this one for the schedule for the remainin few days of the dawrah in shaa' Allaah...

Also - as for Shaykh 'Ubayd's Q&A session after 'Asr, then it seems that the shaykh will not be doing them anymore, since he now has two lectures to give in the evenings and has been sick this week.  May Allaah grant him good health and safety.

UPDATE

As for the third week (Aug 3-7), then the schedule has changed.  There will be no lessons by Sulaymaan Ar-Ruhaylee.  Rather Shaykh 'Ubayd himself will teach from Manhaj As-Saalikeen in shaa' Allaah.  The following is the updated schedule for this last week:

5:45pm Manhaj As-Saalikeen, by Shaykh 'Ubayd
7:30pm Masaa'il Al-Jaahiliyyah, by Ibraaheem Ar-Ruhaylee
9:15pm Kitaab Al-Eemaan from Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree, by Shaykh 'Ubayd

10:15pm Summarized translations of the three lectures above

That is at night, remember all times are according to Jeddah local time, which is currently 7 hours ahead of EST.  And in the mornings:

5:30am Il-I'tiqaad, by 'Alee At-Tuwayjuree
6:30am Al-Aajuroomiyyah, by 'Umar Al-Harakaan
7:15am Al-Burhaaniyyah (Inheritance), by 'Umar Al-Harakaan

8:00am Summarized translations (excluding Al-Burhaaniyyah)

May Allaah reward you well...

Also - Today (Saturday) - the schedule will be slightly different, so consider the above to be effectively starting tomorrow...

additionally, a translated Q&A session with Shaykh 'Ubayd has been added daily (Sat-Wed) at 4:30 pm Jeddah time (9:30am EST).  It generally lasts about an hour, up to shortly before the lecture of Shaykh Abdullaah AL-Bukhaaree begins in Al-Mooqithah.  Also, it should be noted that this is the last week for Shaykh 'Ubayd's participation in the dawrah.  He announced that he will have an additional Q&A session on the weekend, probably Thursday, and that will be finalized soon in shaa' Allaah...

tonight (WEDNESDAY) is the last night of this week's classes, they will then resume again on Saturday morning for the second week of the three week seminar.  some important notes on the translation being offered:

the lectures will be translated (summarized) twice daily:

- about 7:30am Jeddah time (12:40am EST)

- about 10:00pm Jeddah time (3:00pm EST)

The morning session features two topics: Aqeedah of Abdul-Ghanee Al-Maqdisee and Al-Aajuroomiyyah (grammar), focus is given to the aqeedah lecture (by 'Abdur-Razzaaq ibn Abdil-Muhsin Al-'Abbaad.  Actually, he is finished and 'Alee At-Tuwajuree will be continuing from where he left off on Saturday in shaa' Allaah (subject:the face of Allaah).

Again, the books can be downloaded from the link at the top of the salafi duroos room.

The evening session features three topics: firstly and foremostly the excellent lecture given by our 'allaamah Shaykh Ubayd al-Jaabiree (which is actually the last of the arabic lectures) from Saheeh al-Bukhaaree, Al-Mooqithah of Ath-Thahabee (in hadeeth) by Shaykh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaaree, and Masaa'il Al-Jaahiliyyah by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdil=Wahhaab Al-Ateeq.  There is focus given to the lecture of the SHaykh Ubayd, and the other two are more summarized.

Last night Shaykh Ubayd clarified the condition of AL-'Izz ibn 'Abdis-Salaam As-Sulamee, that he was an ash'aree and an EXTREME soofee, as mentioned by As-Subkee.  He used to even dress in the cloak of the soofees.  SubhaanALLAAH.  In shaa' Allaah, as soon as I get back to Makkah I intend to remove the article from Bakkah.net by him.  AL-hamdulillaah, a brother tipped me off to that earlier so I removed the links to the articles, but now with this yaqeen from our shaykh, it will be removed in shaa' Allaah ta'aalaa.

I also asked the shaykh about the praise of Al-Albaanee for Al-'Izz and the shaykh simply re-affirmed for me the principle to be applied here, that the one who has specific knowledge of something is given precedence over the one who does not have specific knowledge of something, and to Allaah is the praise.

Asalaamu alaikum,

In an earlier post we were told:
"I highly recommend and encourage anyone not being able to attend physically, to attend by listening over the paltalk as the dawrah just started, baraka-Allaahufikum."
Jazak Allahu khairun for this recommendation.

Alhumduillah, yesterday about 8pm British time the talks were summarised by one of the noble brothers into English. May Allah reward him greatly. So try to catch the summary.
There were great points and principles being explained in relation to Aqueedah and manhaj from the books being taught.
What is aqueedah?
Why learn aqueedah?
How to study learn aqueedah?

One point of benefit to mention.
Shaikh Ubaid made a crucial point that people are tested on their aqueedah and gave daleel as to the hadith of the slave girl being questioned. He also said that the salaf of virtue and piety ie Malik Ibn Anas tested the people in Medinah, and others in their respective times and places tested the people to check that people from the ranks of ahl ul bidah did not creep into the ranks of ahl us Sunnah.
It was explained that this clearly shows that testing the muslims with individuals of virtue and piety on the points of aqueedah is from the deen. That aqueedah is taught to the people.

Allah preserve and protect our Ulemah and all those involved in this knowledge reaching us. Ameen.

Wassalamu alaikum

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullaah.

In addition to what has been mentioned and being that I am a resident in Jeddah, I would like to add and confirm that there are absolutely no problems to do what the brother has asked about.

As a matter of fact I had a brother from over seas doing what has been asked about last summer when he came to visit me.

The only restriction you will find is that you won?t be able to travel any where except Jeddah Makkah and Madinah with an Umra-Visa, which will limit you to the events happening in these cities only!
In other words you won?t be able to attend any of the dawrahs that might be taking place outside these cities, ex Taif, Jaizaan etc? (But inshaAllaah that the cities you CAN travel to are more than sufficient)

It?s a very easy and practical way for anyone seeking to gain knowledge and benefit from many of the mashaykh at one and the same time, as they?re usually not gathered all at once like during these dawrahs.

As a side note,
I was privileged to attend Shaikh Muhammad Bin Hadi Al Madkhali?s darz last night in masjid al-Hissah.
The darz was mustafeed jiddan and filled with important points of benefits related to the stance of the Muslims in times of calamities.
I highly recommend and encourage anyone not being able to attend physically, to attend by listening over the paltalk as the dawrah just started, baraka-Allaahufikum.

Wassalamu Alaikum

Ps. Moosaa, have you read the ?PM? that I sent you a few days ago?! Allaah jueenak.

wa 'alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

I don't believe there is anything preventing a person coming for 'umrah from attending these dawrahs, as long as the umrah visa allows enough time without overstaying.  Maybe someone else could confirm this, and Allaah knows best.

BTW - There is still time this summer as there is another dawrah after this one, beginning in three weeks, in Taa'if.  Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan and others.  More information to come on that, in shaa' Allaah...
