After viewing various forums of those who ascribe to salafiyyah over the last few weeks I was saddened to find people speaking about this religion without any fundamentals and principles and I was shocked when I found one of our brothers saying: ?I personally think? when speaking about a matter of fiqh.
I think we need to be careful on how we use these forums and they all need to be monitored thoroughly.

Ibnul Qayyim (i?laam Muwaqi?een 1/73) said:

?Allah has made speaking about him without knowledge impermissible (haraam) when giving a verdict (fatwa) or a ruling and he has made it from the greatest of impermissible matters (Muharramaat) and rather he made it the highest level.
So the most high said
 Al-A'raf (7):33
Þõáú ÅöäøóãóÇ ÍóÑøóãó ÑóÈøöíó ÇáúÝóæóÇÍöÔó ãóÇ ÙóåóÑó ãöäúåóÇ æóãóÇ ÈóØóäó æóÇáÅöËúãó æóÇáúÈóÛúíó ÈöÛóíúÑö ÇáúÍóÞøö æóÃóä ÊõÔúÑößõæÇú ÈöÇááøåö ãóÇ áóãú íõäóÒøöáú Èöåö ÓõáúØóÇäðÇ æóÃóä ÊóÞõæáõæÇú Úóáóì Çááøåö ãóÇ áÇó ÊóÚúáóãõæäó

Say (O Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)): "(But) the things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are AlFawâhish (great evil sins, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) whether committed openly or secretly, sins (of all kinds), unrighteous oppression, joining partners (in worship) with Allâh for which He has given no authority, and saying things about Allâh of which you have no knowledge."

So he arranged these impermissible matters into four levels and he started with the lesser of them which is evil sins, then he mentioned secondly that which is more severe in terms of its impermissibility and this is sins and unrighteous oppression, then thirdly he mentioned that which is greater than the previous two in terms of its impermissibility and this is associating partners with Allah, then fourthly he mentioned that which is more severe than all that has preceded in terms of its impermissibility which is speaking about Allah without knowledge and this encompasses speaking about Allah without knowledge in his names, attributes, actions and in his religion and legislation.
The most high said
  An-Nahl (16):116-117

And say not concerning that which your tongues put forth falsely: "This is lawful and this is forbidden," so as to invent lies against Allâh. Verily, those who invent lies against Allâh will never prosper. A passing brief enjoyment (will be theirs), but they will have a painful torment.

So the most High presents a threat to the one who lies upon him about his Ahkaam and to those who say about something which he has not made haraam that it is haraam and something which he never made halaal that is halaal.
So this a clear statement from him the most High showing that it is not allowed for the slave to say this is halaal and this is haraam except about that which (a person) knows that Allah has made it halaal or haraam.

Some of the salaf used to say: One of you should be fearful of saying: ?Allah has made such and such halaal and made such and such haraam? as Allah will say to him: ?You have lied I did not make this halaal and I did not make this haraam?, so it is not befitting for one to say: Allah made this halaal and Allah made that haraam if he does not know the presence of any clear revelation (ie. A proof from the Quran or sunnah) which states that such and such is halaal and such and such is haraam.?

Men are known by the truth, the truth is not known by way of men.

We should all take heed for the words of ibnul Qayyim, jazakAllahu khair to sayfullaah for the benifit.

 Al-Isra (17):36
æóáÇó ÊóÞúÝõ ãóÇ áóíúÓó áóßó Èöåö Úöáúãñ Åöäøó ÇáÓøóãúÚó æóÇáúÈóÕóÑó æóÇáúÝõÄóÇÏó ßõáøõ ÃõæáÜÆößó ßóÇäó Úóäúåõ ãóÓúÄõæáÇð

And follow not (O man i.e., say not, or do not or witness not, etc.) that of which you have no knowledge (e.g. one's saying: "I have seen," while in fact he has not seen, or "I have heard," while he has not heard). Verily! The hearing, and the sight, and the heart, of each of those you will be questioned (by Allâh).

And in the hadeeth of Jibreel, when Jibreel asked the prophet about the hour he was not shy in showing he did not know. Likewise the saying of 'Umar at the end of the hadeeth, "Allaah and His Messenger know best,"

Aboo Bakr as-Siddeeq was asked a question about an aayah from the Book of
Allaah and he said in reply, "Which earth will support me? Which sky will shade me? Where can I go? What will I be able to do? If I say about an aayah from the Book of Allaah other than what Allaah, the Perfect and Most High, intended."

Al-Baraa `ibn 'Aazib said, "I have seen three hundred from the people of Badr, and there was not one of them except that he loved that his companion would give a reply to questions on his behalf."

Ash-Sha'bee said, "Saying 'I do not know' is half of knowledge."

Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamaan radiallaahu 'anhu said. "The people used to ask the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam about the good, but I used to ask him about the evil for fear that it would overtake me ..."

Ibn Luhay'ah narrates on the authority of 'Abdullaah ibn Ja'far that the Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) said:

((The one who is most prepared to give fatwa, is the one who is most prepared for the Fire)).

[This refers to those who put themselves forward considering themselves prepared, when in actual fact they are not qualified to do so, wAllaahu A'lam!]

'Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Mahdee (rahima-hullaah) mentions:

We were with Maalik Ibn Anas when a man came saying:

((O Abu ?Abdullaah, I have travelled a distance of six months. The people of my land sent me to ask you about a matter)).

So he said:

((Ask!))

So the man asked him some things, so he replied:

((I do not know))

...and the man thought he had come to someone who knew everything, so he said:

((What shall I tell the people of my land when I return to them?))

He said:

((Say to them: Maalik Ibn Anas does not know)).

Ibn Hazam (rahima-hullaah) said:

((There is nothing more harmful to the branches of knowledge and its people than those who enter themselves into it and they are not from its people. They are ignorant and yet they think they have knowledge, they cause corruption whilst thinking they are correcting the affairs)).
