All praise is due to Allaah and prayers and peace be upon Allaah's Messenger, to proceed:

This is to make a small clarification concerning a matter that has been raised concerning the books of Dr. Jibaly. Although we are surprised that it keeps resurfacing seeing that it has been clarified numerous times over the past year.

We sell some of the books of Dr. Jibaly due to the following reasons:

1) At present there are no suitable alternatives to be found on those particular subject matters he has compiled books on. And we distinguish between books whose contents are sound but are by authors who have elements of deviation (in which case we look at the need for such books and the maslahah for the Muslims), and between books whose contents are not sound to begin with, regardless of whether the author is free from deviation or not. We would never stock books that contain errors in aqeedah or manhaj, which is something done by the Hizbiyyoon.

2) Some of his books are generally taken from the works of Shaykh Albaani, such as those on marriage, and funerals. Dr Jibaly did not do straight translations because of copyright issues, as he himself explained to us once a long time back.

3) For the above two reasons, and due to a need amongst Salafees for materials on those particular subjects, we sell these books. As soon as any alternative is found, we would immediately phase these books out and replace them with the new alternatives.

4) As people are aware we have a labelling system that helps us to address situations that arise such as these. We have devised this labelling system to allow people to be aware that although a particular books subject content is sound, the author, publisher, or  translator, may have some observations upon them, and to beware of that. Here is an example:

"Disclaimer by Salafi Publications The contents of this book are considered to be sound and in accordance with the Qur'aan and Sunnah, therefore we have stocked it in our Bookstore. This however does not mean that we recommend the author, because it is possible that the author may be using the Qur'aan and Sunnah only to promte his deviation! For more information: tel.00 44 121 773 0033"

5) It is true that we are not in need of a single letter of the authentic materials of those who choose misguidance after guidance, and this has been stated by some of the people of knowledge such as Shaykh Muqbil, because in the sum whole of what Ahl us-Sunnah have written over 14 centuries, there is sufficiency in that, away from what those who have deviated might have put forward. However, this can be said as it relates to the Arabic language, but not to English. This makes clear the need for clear policies about materials in English, which is what we have laid down to help English readers to access authentic information.

6) These policies that we have put in place (i.e. related to the selling books such as these whose contents are generally sound) are to help us address the particular situation in the West, where much of the information about the deen may have been translated, or compiled via channels and mediums (i.e. individuals, organisations, institutions) that are not free from deviations or errors in manhaj. Thus, until authentic materials are made available in English on those specific subject areas, authored or published by those who are clear and firm, such as the true Scholars or the students of those Scholars, there has to be a policy adopted which allows people to gain access to information which otherwise they could not gain access to, whilst also making them aware of any potential dangers attached to the authors or publishers. If this procedure was not adopted it would put the English reading audience at a significant disadvantage by losing out on access to beneficial information.

7) Hence, these steps have been taken by us to aid and assist the Muslims in learning their deen. Seeing that the brothers here do have experience in these matters because of their involvement in the dawah for a long time, and seeing that we have put procedures in place to deal with such matters - and which are based upon the principles that the Scholars have outlined, such as Shaykh Ubayd al-Jaabiree - then if we do sell a book whose author, publisher or translator has some observations, then we will have identified what justifies making it available, where there is a benefit for the Muslims. All a person needs to do is to contact us directly and enquire from us in this regard if any confusion arises, and we can advise them appropriately.

Finally, we are aware of attempts by certain orientations  or individuals on forums who have tried to cast aspersions and make hidden revilements utilising this issue, and spread unfounded lies connected to it, using sarcastic remarks the intent of which we have understood. Then may Allaah pardon and forgive those involved, as this only arises from evil suspicion, and perhaps elements of hatred. Or maybe they have been caught up in some of the lies of the mischief makers that have come to them. May Allaah pardon and forgive them and guide them to what is more befitting towards their brothers. Ameen. We have only put these procedures in place to aid the Salafees and Muslims in general in learning their deen. Nothing else.

As for Dr. Jibaly himself, then his affair has become crystal clear and there is some information that has been posted about him by some brothers  on this forum so refer to it.

Maktabah Salafiyyah.
