as salaam 'alaykum

The Prophet (sallallaahu ?alayhi wa sallam) said, ?Indeed, there shall come out amongst my Ummah a people in whom these desires will circulate just as rabies circulates in a dog.  There does not remain any vein, nor joint except that it enters into it.? Saheeh: Related by Ahmad (4/102) and Aboo Daawood (no. 4957).  It was authenticated by Imaam al-Albaanee in the checking of as-Sunnah (1/7) of Ibn Abee ?Aasim.

Stated al-?Allaamah ?Ubayd Ibn ?Abdus-Salaam al-Mubaarakfooree (d.1414H) ? rahimahullaahu ta?aalaa - concerning this hadeeth, ?There are benefits in this resemblance, from them: Warning against drawing close to these desires and drawing close to their people.  And the explanation of this is that there is in the rabies that which resembles the contagion.  So the source of the rabies exists within the dog.  Then when that dog bites someone, he becomes like him.  And he will not be able to relieve himself from it in most cases, except by becoming utterly destroyed.  Such is the case of the innovator.  When he (the innovator) mentions his opinion and its likes to someone, then seldom will that person be safe from disaster.  Rather, he will either fall in with him in his madhhab and become part of his following, or a doubt will take root in his heart whilst he will desire to relieve himself from it, but he will not be able.  This is contrary to the case of sins, since their perpetrator will not harm someone else, nor will he enter his sin upon them in most cases, except due to prolonged companionship, geniality and their repeated presence during his sinful acts of disobedience.  Indeed, there has come in the aathaar that which lends evidence to this meaning.  So the Salafus-Saalih forbade sitting with them (the mubtadi?oon), speaking with them and speaking with those who spoke with them.  And they were severe in that.? Refer to Mur?aatul-Mafaateeh (1/278)

For more fawaa'id like this, refer to the book Ijmaa?ul-?Ulamaa? ?alal-Hajr wat-Tahdeer min Ahlil-Ahwaa? of Khaalid Ibn Dahawee adh-Dhufayree as it contains great benefit for Ahlus-Sunnah, and it has been commended by the likes of al-'Allaamah Rabee'us-Sunnah al-Madkhalee, al-'Allaamah Zayd Ibn Muhammad al-Madkhalee and al-'Allaamah 'Ubayd al-Jaabiree.

It should be known that the statement "these desires" here means "innovations" and it should also be known that rabies according to modern medicine "is a virus that can be tricky to diagnose". But with the guidance of the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam we have a perfect diagnoses!

The medical experts say: "Symptoms usually do not appear for at least a couple of weeks, and by then the bite has healed. Once symptoms have appeared, antirabies treatment is ineffective, and the infection is most often fatal".

In one case from one doctor he said "...a man presumed to be a "wandering lunatic" was found to be infected with rabies during an autopsy..."

They say "...because the virus affects the limbic system, part of the brain that influences aggressive people with rabies tend to be aggressive, may attempt to bite others..."

"...Rabies causes hypersensitivity to strong stimuli, as well, so patients are often repelled by light..."

"And since the disease causes hydrophobia, or aversion to water, they do not swallow their saliva, which can froth at their mouths, flecked with blood..."

"...the disease can also cause facial spasms, in which the lips jerk back over the teeth, in an animal-like snarl..."

The similitude that is demonstrated in this noble hadeeth between the rabid dog and the innovator or saahibul hawaa (person of desire) and the affects from the bite from those animals, both rabid dogs and Ashaabul Bid' wal Ahwaa (People of Innovations and Desires) is enough for anyone again to bear witness that indeed the Prophet Muhammad, alahis salaatu was salaam, speaks the truth!

Now you compare dear reader - may Allaah guide you and us to the truth and that which is correct - and look closely at everyone of whom the Ulamaa of this Ummah called an innovator, person of desire or those who associate with them and you will see the signs of this wretched disease.

O Allaah protect us from these fatal diseases, physical and spiritual and keep us far away from their carriers and transmitters!
