What is a Mubtadi3 [Innovator] exactly?
Answer [3]
He is the one who introduces [or innovates] into the Deen of Allaah what is not from it, and that is because Bid?a3h linguistically means: that which has been newly invented [or introduced] without having a precedence of it?s like before and according to the Shar3 [religious sense] it means an increase in the Shariah that is not from it.
And the Prophet [Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam] said, ((whoever introduces into this affair of ours, that which is not from it shall have it rejected)).
But rather Allaah A3zza wa Jall has said in His Noble Book: ((This Day have I perfected for you, your religion and completed my favor upon you and I am pleased with Islaam as your way of life.)) [5:3]
And innovations [it should be noted here that Al-Ibtida3 is something in it of itself not praiseworthy especially with respect to al-umooru deeniyyah] have become a part of the affairs of the Deen and as for the worldly affairs then they are not considered impermissible. And there are books that I advise [you all] with reading from amongst them are Al-Bid?3e wan-Nahiya A3nhaa of Muhammad Ibn Wadhaah al- Andaloosee and from them are the book As-Sunnan wal-Mubtadiaa3 indeed the author of this book has done well in mentioning the innovations but he doesn?t have much knowledge with respect to the science of hadeeth, perhaps he will authenticate a hadeeth and in reality it is not authentic or he may declare a hadeeth to be weak but in reality it is authentic and perhaps he may criticize an Imaam from amongst the A?immah [plural of imaam] as he has criticized A3bdur-Razaaq As-San?aa3nee, and he said: he makes [or considers or rules that] A3baas Ibn A3bdul A3dheem Al-A3nbaree a liar but the U3lema do not accept from this A3baas Ibn A3bdul Adheem Al-A3nbaree, so benefit is taken from the book in this regard only and not in Ilmul Hadeeth and not in speech with regards to men .
