In the name of Allah the Most Beneficent Most Merciful,
A question posed to Sheikh Saalih al- Fouzaan -may Allah preserve him- [Reference below]:
Question number 1969: May Allah be good to you oh generous father, the Questioner asks: Is calling to Allah, going to the lands of the Kuffar and the lands of the Muslims and spreading the sunnah from Jihad in the way of Allah?
Answer: Na'am, it is a type of Jihad and it (da'wah to Allah) is prior to Jihad. Calling to Allah precedes Jihad as giving da'wah is first then comes Jihad. There is no doubt that this (da'wah) is from the most virtuous types of Jihad.
