Bismi'llaah wal hamdu lillah wa salaatu wa salam 'ala Rasulillaah wa ba'd:

as-salaamu 'alaikum rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh!

Yaa ikhwaan,

On this noble forum just six short months ago our beloved brother Abu Uwais رحمه الله brought us some important advice from Shaykh Rabee'.

I am re-posting the statement of Abu Uwais رحمه الله and I pray that we all benefit from this reminder and from the advice of Shaykh Rabee'.  I also pray that Allaah makes this statement Heavy on the scale of Good Deeds for brother Abu Uwais  رحمه الله...   Aameen!

This was the statement of Abu Uwais رحمه الله (After sitting with Shaykh Rabee'):

quote:
I wanted some time to collect my thoughts and then present what Sheikh
Rabee? had entrusted me to relay of his words in a more uniformed fashion.
But it appears that assumptions, whispers, and suspicions about what the
sheikh might have said or even may have meant leaves me no choice but to
mention it in a summarized form.

Those matters I recall what the sheikh said since it was not recorded. The sheikh basically stressed the harms of Salafees being hard upon one another and having little gentleness and mercy among themselves and that this matter of harshness is the tool that is being used to destroy the Salafees from the inside.

He gave an example to show the absence of mercy as a man having gasoline poured on him, and rather than removing it, his brother would ignite it.

Another example he gave was a man needing an operation, rather than help him to the hospital; one inflicts more pain on him. And he expressed the fact that medicine through fire (cauterization) is the last means of cure.

There are many times our brothers will have confusion or doubt about the issues they will have a need to be taken to the hospital of knowledge; rather than the harshness we tend to treat them.

And he brought many of the ayaat of Qur?an and the ahadeeth referring to gentleness and its beauty and harshness and how ugly it is, and he ordered the brothers to have harmony and togetherness and he often went into talking about Ahlul-bid?ah and particularly Abul-Hasan al Mar?abee and
that the stance toward Ahlul-bid?ah and the people of hizbiyyah should be
harsh because of their bid?ah.

He then was questioned about the followers of Mar?abee, how they should be dealt with. He said they should be communicated with (given da?wah) gently until such time as you see obstinacy for the man, then they should be left alone.

Then he has a special request for the brothers using the term Dar-ul Hadeeth and those who use the term similar to it, for the centers and the like. That they should not use this term or its equivalent, since it is understood that the usage of this term historically has been used for the institutions of learning of great scholars. And that the usage of this term without being a center of learning for scholars is a joke, that allows those from Ahlul-bid?ah who have knowledge of the reality to laugh at us. And the sheikh stressed this clearly and stayed upon this point for several minutes stressing it and asking that it be made clear to the brothers.

And the sheikh also said some people are writing ?Salafi and Atharee?etc.? at the end of names?he said this is not proper. Sheikh al-Albaanee, Sheikh bin Baz or himself never did this.

This is a summarized version of what I recall the sheikh saying. We hope that all the brothers and sisters would benefit from his advice and begin to include gentleness in dealing with one another and avoid harshness.
And we ask Allaah to grant Sheikh Rabee? a long life full of good health
and acts of obedience and that he continue to be a benefit for the Ummah.
