Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu 'ala rasulullaah Amma ba'd The Adhaan of Bilal, and the Tears of Al-Sham
| quote: |
It is reported that Bilal (radiallaahu 'anhu) never used to call the adhaan for anyone after the death of Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam). He wanted to go for al-jihaad, but Abu Bakr didn't want him to go. So Bilal said, "If you freed me [when I was a slave] for Allaah's pleasure, then let me go." So he went to Al-Sham. When 'Umar arrived in Al-Jabiyah [during his Caliphate], the Muslims requested him to ask Bilal to call the adhaan for them, so 'Umar asked him. He called the adhaan one day, and never were as many people heard crying as on that day, as they remembered the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam). It is said that the adhaan of the people of Al-Sham was taken from this adhaan. |

Subhanak Allaahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anlaa illaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk If I said anything correct, then it is from Allaah (subhanahu wa taa'ala), and if I erred, then that is from me and shaytan.

Assalamu alayk wa rahmtuallahi wa baraktuah, Brother inshaallaah can you please explain this part of the quote as i am a tad confused about it as the Adhaan was established in the time of the prophet Muhammed Ibn Abduallah ibn Abdul Muttalib sallahu allayhi wa sallaam It is said that the adhaan of the people of Al-Sham was taken from this adhaan.
