Authentic Islamic Will and Testament

Narrated by 'Abdullaah bin 'Umar (radiallaahu 'anhumaa): Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallaam) said:
quote:
"It is not permissible for any Muslim who has something to will to stay for two nights without having his last will and testament written and kept ready with him."
[Saheeh al-Bukhari, Book of Wills and Testaments, Hadeeth No. 2558]

If you have not written your last will and testament, here is a link to a copy of an authentic Islamic Will and Testament. Even if you already have written out your will and testament, you may want to read this one and perhaps decide if you have left off matters that are of importance. And Allaah knows best.

Imam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) recorded that Abu Hurayrah (radiallaahu 'anhu) said that the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said:

quote:
A man might perform the actions of righteous people for seventy years, but when it is time to compile his will, he commits injustice. So his final work will be his worst, and he thus enters the Fire. A man might perform the deeds of evil people for seventy years, yet he is fair in his will. So his final work will be his best, and he thus enters Paradise.

Abu Hurayrah said, "Read, if you will: These are the limits (set by) Allaah until a disgraceful torment.
(ayas 13 and 14 of Surat An-Nisaa`)

In the chapter on injustice in the will, Abu Dawud (rahimahullaah) recorded in his Sunan that Abu Hurayrah (radiallaahu 'anhu) said that the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said:
quote:
A man or a woman might perform actions in obedience to Allaah for sixty years. Yet, when they are near death, they leave an unfair will and thus acquire the Fire.

Abu Hurayrah then recited the Ayah: After payment of legacies he (or she) may have bequeathed or debts, so that no loss is caused until and that is the great success.
(ayas 12 and 13 of Surat An-Nisaa`)

This was also recorded by At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah, and At-Tirmidhi said, "Hasan Gharib."

Subhanak Allaahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anlaa illaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk

If I said anything correct, then it is from Allaah (subhanahu wa taa'ala), and if I erred, then that is from me and shaytan.
