This question is on behalf of a brother (over 70 yrs old) who is looking after his wife who is ill. The hospital bills have become expensive and so he is considering health insurance but would like to know the ruling regarding it before he enters into insurance. Has anyone heard of a fatawa from any of the ahlul ilm regarding health insurance? Since health care in many countries is very expensive, does this fall under the condition of necessity? Hope someone can answer this with the evidences.
