AS-SALAAMU ALAYKUM WARAHMATULLAHI WABARAKATUH

INSHA'ALLAH I'M LOOKING FOR UNDERSTANDING OF THE BELOW STATEMENT OF SHAYKH AL-BAANEE

This is based upon the Hadith of Jabir ibn ýAbdillah  who reported that the people of At-Taýif said: ýO, Messenger of Allah! Our land is cold, so what will suffice us as way of washing due to sexual impurity?ý He r, said: ý As for me , I pour water over my head three times (Narrated by Muslim 56/328)

The Great scholar of Hadith Shaikh  Al-Albani (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: ýOne concludes from them (i.e the two narrations) that he  used to pray with a Ghusl (bath) which did not include Wudhoo in it nor after it and Allaah knows better (Tamam Al-Minnah p.129)

Does taking Ghusl exempt a person from Wudu` (ablution), given that the person intends to offer Salah (Prayer) after Ghusl, or should they perform Wudu` besides Ghusl? by Shaikh 'Abdul-'Azeez ibn 'Abdullaah ibn Baz (rahimahullaah)

Question: Does taking Ghusl (ritual bath following major ritual impurity) exempt a person from Wudu` (ablution), given that the person intends to offer Salah (Prayer) after Ghusl, or should they perform Wudu` besides Ghusl?

Shaikh Ibn Baaz (rahimahullaah) and the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta` answered:

quote:
All praise be to Allaah Alone, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, and his family and Companions.

Yes, Ghusl is enough; it makes up for Wudu` if a person intends to do both. They can offer Salah as long as they do not invalidate their Wudu`. If they intend to perform Ghusl only, it does not make up for Wudu`, according to the most correct opinion of scholars. It was authentically reported from the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) that he said: Actions depend upon intentions, and every person shall have but that which they have intended. [al-Bukharee]

However, it is better for a person who is Junub (in a state of major ritual impurity) to begin with washing their private parts, performing Wudu`, and then performing Ghusl by pouring water all over their body, following the example of the Prophet (salallaahu 'a;aihi wa sallam).

May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!

If a person does Ghusl with the intention of Wudhoo, is that sufficient with no need for wudhoo? by Shaikh Muhammad bin Saleh al-'Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah)

Question: If a person does Ghusl with the intention of Wudhoo, is that sufficient with no need for wudhoo?

Shaikh al-'Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) answered:

quote:
If he does ghusl with the intention of Wudhoo, but he does not do wudhoo, that is NOT sufficient - with no need for wudhoo - unless it is Ghusl from Janaabah (major impurity).

If it is Ghusl from Janaabah (major impurity), then it is okay. Ghusl is sufficient as having wudhu. (With no need for wudhoo)

Because Allaah, The Exalted and Most High, said: ...If you are in a state of Janaaba (i.e. had a sexual discharge), purify yourself (bathe your whole body)... (Al-Ma`idah, ayah 6)

And He did not mention wudhoo.

But if he does ghusl to cool off, or he does ghusl for Jumu'ah (Friday prayer) or (some other) ghusl that is mustahabb (recommended), then it is not sufficient. Because this kind of ghusl is not aimed at removing impurity.

So the basic principle is: if the ghusl is aimed at removing impurity - meaning janaabah or menses (in the case of a woman), then it is sufficient. (With no need for Wudhoo). Otherwise, it is not sufficient, with no need for wudhu.

Forgotten Sunnan Related to Ghusl: Not Using Towel afterward, & Removing Traces of Water from Body with Hand

Question: Is it permissible for one to use a towel to dry oneself after performing ablution? Does this depend on weather conditions, or is it a general ruling?

Shaikh 'Abdul-'Azeez ibn 'Abdullaah Ibn Baaz (rahimahullaah) and the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta' answered:
quote:
The use of a towel to dry oneself after performing ablution or Ghusl or not using one are both permissible. The scope of permissibility is broad in this regard, praise be to Allaah.

However, it is best not to use a towel after Ghusl to be in keeping with the example of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam).

May Allaah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!

Narrated Maimuna bint Al-Harith:

I placed water for the bath of Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and put a screen. He poured water over his hands, and washed them once or twice. (The subnarrator added that he did not remember if she had said thrice or not). Then he poured water with his right hand over his left one and washed his private parts. He rubbed his hand over the earth or the wall and washed it. He rinsed his mouth and washed his nose by putting water in it and blowing it out. He washed his face, forearms and head. He poured water over his body and then withdrew from that place and washed his feet. I presented him a piece of cloth (towel) and he pointed with his hand (that he does not want it) and did not take it.
