Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullaahi Wa Barakaatuh At what point (from the begining of the iqamah) does one stand for the obligatory prayer? Is there any proof for standing up at "qad-qaamati-salaat"? Wa JazakumAllaahu Khairan Wassalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullaahi Wa Barakaatuh Your akh, Abu Maryam

Question: Is there any mention in the Sunnah of a specific point in the iqaamah when people should stand up for the prayer? Answer by Sheikh Uthamin: There is no mention in the Sunnah of a specific point in the iqaamah when people should stand up for the prayer, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not stand up until you see me. Therefore if a person stands up at the beginning of the iqaamah or during it or when it ends, all of that is permissible.

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu 'ala rasulullaah Amma ba'd The following two ahadeeth can be found in the Book of Adhaan of Saheeh al-Bukhari: Narrated 'Abdullah bin Abi Qatada: My father said. | quote: |
Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said: If the Iqaamah is pronounced, then do not stand for the prayer till you see me (in front of you). |
|
Qatada: My father said: | quote: |
Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said: If the Iqama is pronounced, then do not stand for the prayer till you see me (in front of you) and do it calmly. |

__________________________________________________________________________ One time, student of knowledge Abu Muhammad al-Maghribee saw some of us stand before the 'Iqammah and before he had arrived at the front to lead the salat, so he relayed to us that Shaikh 'Abdul-Muhsin al-'Abbaad (hafidhahullaah) taught him that people should stand for the salat when: - The Imam is standing for the salat, or - The Iqaamah is being called, or - During Iqaamah when "Qad Qamat as-salat" is being pronounced. Abu Muhammad also added: The Imam tells the mu`aadhin when to call the Iqaamah. |

Subhanak Allaahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anlaa illaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk If I said anything correct, then it is from Allaah (subhanahu wa taa'ala), and if I erred, then that is from me and shaytan.
