السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

I'm addressing these questions to the brothers who are known for their abilities to speak publicly Masha'Allaah.  Brothers such as Abul-Hasan Maalik, Abul-Abbaas, Aboo Tasneem, Aboo Khadijah, Aboo Uwais, Aboo Hakeem, Aboo Abdullaah and others (may Allaah preserve them all) and also ANYONE else on this forum who is actively involved in some sort of public speaking. These questions are not limited to matters of the Deen, but mostly geared toward issues of the Dunya, such as making a presentation at work or the University etc.

    1. What advice do you have on the ways in which a person can cope with the feelings of "Stage-fright" or feelings of apprehension before speaking in a public format?  Have any of the Ulamaa touched on this issue?  Can a person make a type of Istikhaarah for something like this?

    2. Is it normal to continuously feel nervous before speaking in public, even when one does so on a regular basis?  Does speaking ever begin to feel routine or comfortable?

    3. What is the most effective technique to stay mentally focused, especially when one begins to feel he is stumbling in the middle of a talk, even though he is thoroughly familiar with the topic being discussed?

I apologize for so many questions at once, but these are some of the matters I've had to deal with and ANY advice would be greatly appreciated insha'Allaah.  There are many books by the kufaar that deal with the issue of "Effective Public Speaking", but I would much rather have the perspective of one of my brothers insha'Allaah.

Barak Allaahu Feekum
