A Delight for the Mumineen: A series of khutbahs of al-Allaamah ibn Uthaymeen

Introducing, bi idhnillaah, a selection of khutbahs of the Imaam, the Salafi, al-Faqeeh, al-Allaamah Abu Abdillaah Muhammad ibn Saaleh ibn Uthaymeen, which he delivered in the main Jumu?ah mosque in Unayzah, on the days of Jumu?ah and during Eid, after he took over from his teacher al-Allaamah Abu Abdillaah Abdur Rahmaan bin Naasir as-Sa?dee.

Over 300 of these khutbahs are collected in a book ?Ad-Diyaa al-Laami min Khutab il-Jawaami? authored by the Shaikh, 4th edition, published by Daar ul-Manaarah (Jeddah), 1412 AH.

And all success lies with Allaah!

quote:

The encouragement to seek knowledge and act upon it.

?All Praise is due to Allaah, the One who created the heavens and the earth, and created the darkness and the light. Praise be to the One who favoured knowledge over ignorance and said, ?Say, are those who know equal to those who do not know?? [az-Zumar: 9].

And I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah alone, without any partners, the All-Knowing of those who deserve knowledge and deen. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His Messenger, the one who said, ?Whoever Allaah wishes good for, He gives him understanding of the deen.? May the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, his family and his Companions and those who follow them in goodness up until the Last day.

To proceed: O you people fear Allaah, the Most High, and know the rulings of His Sharee?ah by seeking beneficial knowledge, for verily knowledge is light and guidance and ignorance is darkness and misguidance. Learn that which Allaah has revealed to His Messenger from revelation, for the ulemaa are the inheritors of the prophets, (those) who don?t leave behind Dirham or Dinaar, rather they leave behind knowledge, so whoever takes it has taken a firm handhold from their legacy. Learn knowledge for it is elevation in this world and the hereafter and it is a continuous reward until the Day of Judgement. Allaah the Most High said,

?Allaah will exalt in degree those of you who believe and those who have been granted knowledge.? [al-Mujaadilah: 11]

And the Prophet (sallallaahualaihi wasallam) said, ?When the slave dies his actions are cut off except for three: a continuous charity, or knowledge which is benefited from after him, or a righteous child who supplicates for him.?

Look at the effect and legacy of the ulemaa ar-rabbaaniyeen which has not ceased until today, throughout the months and years. Their legacy is praiseworthy and their way is illuminated and their mention is lofty, and they are to be thanked for their efforts. If they are mentioned in gatherings, the people seek forgiveness for them and supplicate for them. And if righteous actions and lofty manners are mentioned then they (the ulemaa) are an example to be followed for the people in these issues. O you people, seek knowledge and act upon it for verily seeking knowledge is jihaad in the path of Allaah and acting upon it is light and insight from Allaah, ?Is he who was dead (without faith by ignorance and disbelief) and We gave him life (by knowledge and faith) and set for him a light (of belief) whereby he can walk amongst men, like him who is in the darkness (of disbelief, polytheism and hypocrisy) from which he can never come out?? [al-An?aam: 122]

To be continued ? InshaaAllaah

quote:

O you people, we are at the beginning of a new academic year in which the students will face that which is delivered to them from knowledge and will face teachers who will deliver knowledge and manners to them. So O people, what has each one of them prepared for that which will face him? It is upon the students to prepare for this year with seriousness and activity and to be as enthusiastic as possible in order to absorb the knowledge by every way and means, and to expend utmost efforts to ground that knowledge in their hearts, so they can strive upon it from the beginning of the year and that causes the knowledge to become firmly grounded and makes it easy to absorb. Since it becomes easy for him. As for when he relaxes at the beginning of the year then later it becomes difficult for him and gets accumulated for him and his concept of it is something superficial since it is not firmly grounded in his heart and  does no stay in his mind.

And from the obligations upon the student are that when he comprehends knowledge of an issue, to apply it upon himself and act upon it so that his knowledge may become beneficial for him. For indeed beneficial knowledge is that which a person applies through actions and acting upon knowledge is one of the fruits of knowledge. An ignorant person is better than the scholar who does not benefit from his knowledge and does not act upon it, for verily knowledge is a weapon so either it is a weapon for you against your enemy or a weapon against you. O students, when you learn an issue of the deen then act upon it otherwise what is the benefit of knowledge? Have you seen that if a person studied medicine but did not practice it or did not cure himself or others, then what is the benefit of his knowledge? Thus the same is true for knowledge of the sharee?ah when it is not applied, rather it is more serious. If you act upon it then it will be the most beneficial knowledge, but if you opposed then it will become a proof against you.

O you teachers, you have a great responsibility to those who you teach from your ummah, so establish your responsibility sincerely for Allaah and seek help from Him to benefit your sons and those who take knowledge from you. Be sincere in teaching and follow  the easiest and closest of paths to aid the understanding (of the students) and give the classes their due, for teaching those who are at the end of these studies and not like the beginners and you should behave in front of the students with all forms of good and noble manners, and direct your sons and students to that, at every appropriate opportunity you get. For verily a sincere teacher is one who combines between teaching and good tarbiyyah, and Allaah loves those who do good.

I seek refuge with Allaah from the cursed Shaytaan, Allaah, the Most High, said, ?Alif laam Raa, (This is) a Book which We have revealed unto you in order that you may lead mankind out of darkness into light by their Lord?s leave to the Path of the All-Mighty, the owner of all Praise.? [Ibraaheem: 1]

May Allaah bless me and you with the Noble Qur?aan?.
