To be announced Friday 12th after Maghrib Time: 10:30am sharp (Insha?Allaah) Zakaat ul Fitr "The Messenger of Allaah [sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam] made obligatory the payment of Zakaatul-Fitr from a Saa' of dates or a Saa' of barley..." (Bukhaaree 2:579). One Saa' is equal to four Mudd, and one Mudd is equal to the amount held by cupping the two hands together. It is a measure by volume not by weight to be distributed to the poor a day or two before the Eid. Therefore we recommend the following: ? Distribute a Saa? of rice, barley, dried fruit or equivalent to the poor in the local community. ? Otherwise arrange for your zakaat ul fitr to be distributed as food to poor abroad ? Otherwise leave ₤3 per person in the designated zakaat ul fitr collection box between Wed 27 ? Friday 29 Ramadaan for the masjid to distribute as food before Eid on your behalf.
