As salaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh Dear brothers and sisters...Allah knows that i am not trying to rekindle and type of fitan in asking the following question and I ask Him azza wajjal to purify my intention. In accordance with the fatwa that states the believers should follow the local sighting, is it correct to assume that the so-called sighting or lack thereof that are dispatched by the local masajid and islamic center (in New England they are all either ikhwaaniyyoon and hizbiyyoon) are valid upon the salafi,when they state clearly their reasons are because of the calculated impossibility or calculated definity of the moon's position and sighting? As the announcement for the commencement of Ramadhan has been made already, there still remains the announcement for the termination of the fasting month. may Allah protect us all.
