On page 52 of the Book Kitab At-Tauhid (Dar-us-Salam / English translation) Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Abdul-Wahhab رحمه الله brings the following narration:
Muslim reports that Ali bin Abi Talib Radi' Allaahu Ta'ala 'anhu said:

"Allaah's Messenger صل الله عليه و سلم informed me about four Judements (of Allaah): (1) Allaah's curse is upon the one who slaughters (devoting his sacrifice) to anything other than Allaah; (2) Allaah's curse is upon the one who curses his own parents; (3)Allaah's curse is upon the one who shelters an heretic (who has brought a bid'ah in religion); (4) Allaah's curse is upon the one who alters the landmarks ( who changes boundary lines)."
Does anyone have statements from the People of Knowledge (may Allaah preserve them) as to whether #3 mentioned in the hadeeth refers to the mubtadi in general or is it specific to the one who "introduced" the Bid'ah or "calls" to it? For example, would it be permissble to shelter a person who is known to commit Bid'ah (Not the type that takes one out of the Deen) but does not "call" to that innovation?
