Bismillaahi wal hamdulillaahi was salaatu was salaamu alaa rasoolillaahi ammaa ba'd. As we all know, no one feared Allaah more, knew Allaah more and understood His speech more than our prophet (salallaahu alaihi wa sallam). The following narration shows the fear that he (salallaahu alaihi wa sallam) had for his Lord and the effect the Qur'aan had upon him! Ibn Abbaas said that Abu Bakr (Radiyallaahu an'humaa wa ardaa) said; O messenger of Allaah! Qad shibta (you have become white, i.e. his hair) he said; Hud and al Waaqi'ah and al Mursalaat and amma yatasaa'aloon and idhash shamsu kuwwirat (the surahs) has cuased me to become white. This is our prophet! (salallaahu alaihi wa sallam) reported by at Tirmadhi, shamaa'il Muhammadiyyah. authenticated by al albaani (rahmatullaahi alaihi) abusalmaan an-Nimari This message was edited by abusalmaan on 1-8-03 @ 5:46 PM

Here's a beneficial email I received related to the original post: What is Reported about the Gray Hair of Allah's Messenger : Qataadah said, "I asked Anas Bin Maalik; 'Did Allah's Messenger sallahu alayhe wa sallam used dye? He said; 'That has not been reported; only about something in his sideburns. But Abu Bakr dyed with hinnaa' and katam. (Al-Bukhaari, Muslim) Anas Bin Maalik said; "I did not count but fourteen white hairs on the head and beard of Allah's Messenger sallahu alayhe wa sallam. (Ibn Maajah) Simaak Bin Harb said, "I heard Jaabir Bin Samurah being asked about the gray of Allah's Messenger sallahu alayhe wa sallam, he said; 'When he put oil on his hair no gray would be seen, and when he did not use oil some could be seen. And in another narration; "There was no gray on the head of Allah's Messenger sallahu alayhe wa sallam except for some hairs at the part on his head. When he used oil the oil covered them. (Muslim) Abdullah Bin Umar said; "The gray of Allah's Messenger sallahu alayhe wa sallam amounted to only about twenty white hairs. (Ibn Maajah) Ibn Abbaas said; Abu Bakr said, Messenger of Allah! You are graying. <He said; Hood [11], al-Waaqi'ah [56], al-Mursllaat [77] and amma yatasaa'loon [78], and Ithaash-shamsu kuwwirat [81] lead to my graying.> (Al-Haakim) Abu Juhayfah said; "They said, 'Messenger of Allah! We noticed that you are graying. 'He said <Hood and its sisters lead to my gray.> (At-Tabaraanee) Abu Rimathah at-Taymee said; "I arrived upon the Prophet while my son was with me." He said, "So I was shown him, and while looking at him I said, 'This is the Prophet of Allah sallahu alayhe wa sallam, he was wearing green garments, and his hair had started to gray at the parts, and it had been reddened. (Abu Daawood) {The source for this work is Mukhtasir Shamaa'il al-Muhamadiyyah, Muhammad Nasiruddeen al-Albaanee's revision of at-Tirmithee's work}
