Assalaamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi Just a quick question with regards to the the etiquette's of the grave and preservation of them. How does one preserve a graving, in the sense of cleaning excess leaves that have fallen onto the grave, excess grass that is growing from it, thus making it difficult to find when visiting the graveyard or is it a case that we leave them as they are? I have come across a narration, i think its from Ali ibn abi Talib that said that the Prophet said that the height of the grave should not exceed the width of a hand, or something along that nature. I know its waste of muslim wealth and impermissible to create marble tomb like structures on top of the graves but i wanted to know what measures can be taken to preserve the graves? Can graves be surrounded by a small fence-like feature? Also whats the rulings on individuals who put flowers, scented sticks on the graves? jazakAllah khairun wasalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi Abu Hanaa'
