Asalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh, I am seeking an explanation of this Hadeeth, not to confuse it with the bid'ah of congregational dua'a that goes on these days after the fard Salaah Volumn 001, Book 012, Hadith Number 802. ----------------------------------------- Narated By Abu Ma'bad : (The freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas) Ibn 'Abbas told me, "In the lifetime of the Prophet it was the custom to celebrate Allah's praises aloud after the compulsory congregational prayers." Ibn 'Abbas further said, "When I heard the Dhikr, I would learn that the compulsory congregational prayer had ended."

wa 'alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. The hadeeth mentions the raising of the voices (with thikr), not that it was congregational, or together in unison. The scholars mention that du'aa' in congregation is a contradiction to the guidance of the Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam), and some exclude what is done for the purpose of teaching Quran, however others (like Maalik - I think) did not even allow this. The issue is mentioned in at-Tibyaan of an-Nawawee if anyone wants to look into it further. And Allaah knows best. As-Salamu Alaykum wa Rahmetullahi wa Barakatuh What is the Tafsir of the following Hadith. The Hadith is in Tirmidhiu and is narrated by Abu Umamah (Radi Allahu Anhu) that the Prophet (SalAllahu Alayi wa Salam) was asked which supplication has the greatest response and He (SalAllahu Alayi wa Salam) said: "The supplication made at the middle of the las part of the night and the supplication after the completion of te cumpolsery prayers" Is this Hadith Sahih? Is it sunnah to make dua'a after we finish Fardh Salah? After the Dhikr or strait away after Salat? Jazak Allahu Khayr Abu Maryam Al-Albanee

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah May Allaah reward our brother Moosa for that very important clarification regarding not making the dhikr in unison, i.e. in congregation. Regarding the Sunnah of making dhikr individually aloud after the five obligatory prayers, here is what Shaikh Al-'Uthaimeen and Shaikh Ibn Baaz (rahimahumullaah) said about it. BaarakAllaahu fikum. Dhikr Aloud after Salat is a Sunnah Question: What is the ruling on raising the voice when seeking forgiveness (saying "astaghfirullaah" three times) and utterening dhikr after prayer, bearing in mind that this disturbs the others, since they find difficulty in maintaining a sense of humility in Tasbih and remembrance? Also, it is difficult for those who are completing their prayers to do so with humility and contemplation. Shaikh al-'Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) answered:
Ibn Baaz (rahimahullaah) said:
[1] Al-Bukhari no. 841; Muslim no. 583. Source: Fatawa Islamiya, Volume 2 Subhanak Allaahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anlaa illaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk If I said anything correct, then it is from Allaah (subhanahu wa taa'ala), and if I erred, then that is from me and shaytan.

barakAllahu feekum for the response, dhikr outloud being a sunnah after the prayers - does this include any dhikr and all dhikr? or only the dhikr that has been legislated by the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam? because i know individuals who make dhikr like "rabbi irHamhumaa kamaa rabbayaani sagheera" and call upon Allah such as "ya baaree2" out loud after the prayer (not raising hands though)... wa Allahu 'alam
