What is the Arabic word that is used for 'cap'? as here in the UK, when you say cap, we generally think of the baseball cap. Can you provide the word that is used please? جزاكم الله خيرا أبو سلمان النمري طلحة بن وليم والعصر ان الانسان لفي خسر الا الذين آمنواو عملوا الصالحات و تواصوا بالحق و تواصوا بالصبر

as Salaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, Jazakum Allahu Khair for these verdicts by al-Allaamah Aboo Abdillaah Muhammad ibn Saaleh ibn Uthaymeen. A question resulting from the above fatwa is: In a North American context, according to customs, is wearing something on the head considered a form of beautification? Baraak'Allahu Feekum

Jazaakumullaahu khairan Yes, it is important to distinguish between the different types of caps especially when we seem some muslims wearing baseball caps, clearly resembling the kuffaar. The arabic for 'cap' used by the shiakh is الطاقية which is the usually white (or other colour, perhaps)cap worn under the 'ghutrah' or on its own, also known as topee in urdu. And Allaah knows best ابو العرباض Abid Zargar
