10/11/2003 Al Al-Sheikh condemns Riyadh bombing Riyadh, 10th November 2003 The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call, and Guidance, Sheikh Salih bin Abdul Aziz Al Al-Sheikh, said that Saturday?s bombing attack on Al-Mohayya residential compound in Riyadh was a grave sin committed in the Holy Month of Ramadan against innocent civilians. Citing verses from the Holy Quran and the sayings of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him), Al Al-Sheikh said that the bombing attack comprised several serious offences against Islam and human values, including suicide, the killing of innocent people ? be they Muslims or non-Muslims, terrorising people and destroying their property, and deviating from the teachings of Islam. He cautioned citizens and expatriates in the Kingdom against listening to what the deviant terrorist groups are saying, and against distributing their writings or propagating any part of their destructive ideology. He stressed the importance of unifying ranks at this critical time. Al Al-Sheikh urged the 50,000 religious speakers who give sermons in over 50,000 mosques in Kingdom to educate citizens in the true, moderate Islam, and to dispel the influences of false ideologies, such as that preached by terrorist groups. Imams and preachers should follow Fatwas (formal religious opinions), and refrain from issuing personal statements on serious matters for people and their property, and for the peace and security of society, he said.
