Bismillaahirrahmaanirraheem,
From Muhammad al-Jibaalee's Book "The Fragile Vessels":
quote:
Maariyah Bint Sham'oon radiyallaahu'anhaa was one of the Prophet's sallallaahu'alaihiwasallam female slaves. Al-Muqawqas, who was the king of Alexandria and Egypt sent her to him as a gift in 7 H.
She was a Coptic Egyptian of fair complexion. She embraced Islaam when she reached al-Madeenah. The Prophet sallallaahu'alaihiwasallam veiled her like his other wives and she gave birth to his son Ibraaheem in 8 H. This earned her freedom. Ibraaheem died when he was two years old.
She died in al-Madeenah in 16 H, during the khilaafah of 'Umar radiyallaahu'anhu and was buried in al-Baqee'.
[She is later listed in a table amongst the Mothers of the Believers]

Is there information from the Scholars about the status(i.e.was she Ummul-Mu'mineen also?) of Maaria The Coptic who bore the Prophet's Sallallaahu 'alaihi wa Sallam son Ibraaheem?
