As salaamu alaikum
Is it permissable for a sister to make an agreement with someone whom she is intending to marry for him not to take care of her. Like, she has her own money/place/car/job and says that he doesnt have to take care of her.

Walaikum salaam sis,

I do not have the exact quote from the Sheik, but at a conference in Philadelphia, Sheikh Fawzee Al-Atharee said that sisters should not give up their rights in order to get married (to paraphrase).

From that what I have heard from the kibaar is that it is allowed as I was informed by abu Hakeem Bilal that shaikh ibn baz said it is allowed and I also heard it from shaikh Ubayd al Jaabiri in his house when someone phoned him asking the same question. and Allaah knows best.

Ukti why would you want to do this, this is your right from Allah, Yes fine make it easy for the brother regarding money but why the contract???
