Accepting gifts from those who deal in the Haraam (Forbidden) Translated by Abu Sumayyah Aqeel Walker
Question: Should the gift of someone who works in the Haraam (that which is forbidden), or his charitable donations for the building of masjids and other than that from the charitable acts, be accepted?
Answer: Pious abstinence (Al-War?) would be to not accept it. However, if one accepts it then the sin is upon the one who directly deals with the Haraam as we?ve said previously. And we said that verily the sin is upon the one who directly deals with the Haraam because the Prophet (sallallaahu ?alayhi wa sallam) used to deal with the Jews and they were dealing with Ribaa (usury and interest). And it was likely that they would invite the Prophet (sallallaahu ?alayhi wa sallam) (to eat) and he would accept their invitations even though they were dealing in Ribaa (usury and interest).
