But the Hadeeth isn't considered authentic though sister. Why would you want to derive rulling from it?

Jazakamullaahu khayran for the replies, I should have probably explained that the exact part I was concerned about was the bit where it mentions getting 70 rewards.

If anyone could shed any light on this matter I would appreciate it.

May Allaah reward you for your time and effort. Aameen

the hadeeth is weak because of one of the narrators in the chain, 'Alee ibn Zayd ibn Jud'aan, who was well-known among the scholars for being unreliable in his narrations.  this is why Ibn Khuzaymah said in his chapter title "IF the hadeeth was authentic", this is his indication of a weakness in the chain.

people who say it is authentic because ibn khuzaymah collected it in his "Saheeh" seem to not understand that he identified narrations in that book as being problematic, and they were not considered authentic by the author, and this is one of them.

And Allaah knows best.

Wa alaikum as sallam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu

This narration is to be found in Silsaltul-Ahaadeeth Ad-Da'eefah Wal-Maudoo'ah (No. 871) of Sheikh Al-Albaanee (rahimahullah) with extra wording than the one you have mentioned.

The Sheikh says: 'It was narrated by Al-Mahaamalee in 'Al-Amaalee' (Vol.5, No.50), Ibn Khuzaimah in his Saheeh (1887) and he (Ibn Khuzaimah) said 'If it is authentic' and Al-Waahidee in 'Al-Waseet' (1/640/1-2)'

Sheikh Al-Albaanee gave it the ruling of being MUNKAR. In explanation of this he says:

'I say: This chain of narration is da'eef (weak) due to 'Alee Bin Zayd Bin Jad'aan, for indeed he is da'eef (weak) as Ahmad and other than him have said. And Al-Imaam Ibn Khuzaimah explained the reason and said: 'I do not use him as a proof due to his bad memory.' And due to this, when he narrated this hadeeth in his Saheeh he coupled it with his statement: 'If the report is authentic'...'

And Allah knows best.

quote:

The above is the arabic text for the hadeeth, and it is graded as "Very
Weak
" by Shaykh al Albaani in Mishkat ulMasabih # 1906

However, the portion about feeding a fasting person, there are many authentic
narrations with regard to that, including the one in Saheeh at-Tirmithee #
807:

Whoever feeds a fasting person has the likes of his reward, without
anything being reduced from the reward of the fasting person

Assalaamu 'alaikum warahmatullaahi wabarakaatu

I have been told of th following hadeeth but I have looked in the hadeeth books I have and the Ramadhaan related books but I have not come across it. Could someone kindly tell me if this is an authentic hadeeth and it's exact citation if possible?

Jazakamullaahu khayran

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) addressed his companions on the last day of Sha`ban, saying, "Oh people! A great month has come over you; a blessed month; a month in which is a night better than a thousand months; month in which Allah has made it compulsory upon you to fast by day, and voluntary to pray by night. Whoever draws nearer (to Allah) by performing any of the (optional) good deeds in (this month) shall receive the same reward as performing an obligatory deed at any other time, and whoever discharges an obligatory deed in (this month) shall receive the reward of performing seventy obligations at any other time. It is the month of patience, and the reward of patience is Heaven. It is the month of charity, and a month in which a believer's sustenance is increased. Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, shall have his sins forgiven, and he will be saved from the Fire of Hell, and he shall have the same reward as the fasting person, without his reward being diminished at all." [Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah]
