I have a question regarding my son's name which has recently been bothering me a great deal. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'la help me resolve the matter.
When my son was born ..., we named him Raqeeb [...] after some consultation amongst knowledgeable muslims who knew Arabic. I was given to understand that while Raqeeb is indeed one of Allah's names, it is one of those names where it is not mandatory for it to be used as "Abdur Raqeeb". This understanding was given to me by a person close to me whose knowledge of the Quran and Sunna, and Arabic language, I could rely upon and trust...
Of late after reading a little bit more of Islamic matters and the Aqeedah and Manhaj of Ahl us Sunna wal Jam'aa, I have begun having doubts. Could you please help me by forwarding this mail and my query to a known scholar whose opinion is drawn from deep knowledge of the Quran, the Sunna and the Salafi Manhaj.
Is the name Raqeeb [...] acceptable or should I have it changed to Abdur Raqeeb [...].
Please could you also obtain for me a greater understanding of why the opinion that (Inshallah) will be given to me is indeed the right opinion.
I trust in Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'la and do hope you will with His Help be able to resolve a matter which has begun agonising me.
