As salaamu alaikum May Allah reward you both Abu Shereen and Abu Yahya, Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab are both separate individuals as our brother mentioned, but Abu Jahl was not an uncle of the Prophet, peace and blessing are upon him. Abu Jahl is Abu Al-Hakm Ammar bin Hisham, he was given the name Abu Jahl by the Prophet, peace and blessings are upon him. Ibn Kathir and Ibn Hisham have said that the Prophet peace and blessings are upon him had nine uncles. Al-Abbas, Hamza, Abu Taalib, Az-Zubayr, Al Haarith, Hijl, Al- Muqum, Daraar, and Abu Lahab And Allah knows best ýýýýýá ýýýýa ýýýý ýýýý ýýýýý ýýý ýýýa ýýýýýýa ýýýýýýá ýýýýýýýý ýýýýýýýýý ýýýýa ýýýý ýýý ýýýýý ýýý ýýýýý.

asalaamu alaykum. They are two separate individuals who were both the paternal uncles of the Prophet Muhammed (sallaahu alayhi was salim). Both died as mushriks fighting against this deen. Abu Lahab made the statement against the Prophet (salullaahu alayhi was salim) when he initially openly called Quraysh, in reply to which Allah (subhanaah wa ta'ala) revealed the surah. ( If I remember correctly when the Prophet (salullaahu alayhi was salim) used to go to various surrounding towns to call the ppl Abu Lahab used to follow him and throw stones at him and and tell the ppl not to pay attention to him.) Abu Jahl, was described as the Firawn (Pharoh) of this Ummah. There are likewise indirect refences to him in Surah Al-Alaq, as the one who prevented others from praying at the Kabah. He was killed at Badr. wallahu a'lam wa billahi tawfeeq. wasalaamu alaykum Abu Yahya

I read the English translation of "Ar-Raheeq al-Makhtum". On page 168 when talking about the plan for several tribe members to kill the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) Mubarakpuri writes: "To make the necessary preparations for the implementation of their devilish plan, the chiefs of Makkah had chosen eleven men: Abu Jahl, Hakam bin Abil Al-'As, 'Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ait, An-Nadr bin Harith, Omaiyah bin Khalaf, Zama'a bin Al-Aswad, Tu'aima bin 'Adi, Abu Lahab, Ubai bin Khalaf, Nabih bin Al-Hajjaj and his brother Munbih bin Al-Hajjaj." My question is: I thought Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab were the same person? Please clarify if someone can. Abu ShereenText
