Salaamoe aleikoem,

I have an very urgent question on behalf of my sister.
The last three years she have been careless with fasting the missed days (due to menstruation) of Ramadaan. Now she regret and wants to make Taubah. What does she have to do in this situation?

Does she have to make up the missed days of three months of Ramadaan? And if so, how many days does she have to make up? She don't know how many days she have missed of Ramadaan.

Does she have to do something else besides fasting the missed days?

Are those questions ever been asked to the Ulamaa?
Could somebody prossably ask an Aalim about this questions?

I hope someone may help her with this situation. (Please only respond with dalil).

(My English isn't very good, so my apologies for that. I hope that my words are clear enough)

Baraka Allahoe fiekum.

Wasalaamoe aleikoem

salamu alaikum

yes this question was asked to shekh utymeen i read this litle book with some fatwas of shekh utymeen and as far as i know he said: look how much u missed and fast them all. so she is obligated to make up the days she missed in the 3 years . i also asked shekh malikie on paltalk once: what if i forgat how much days i have left to make up for ramadan what should i do?

he answert that i should look how much days i fasted for sure. for excample if i know for sure i fasted 4 days but i dont know if i fasted 5 then i just follow the 4. so i also had 9 years to make up. what i did was: i knew that i normaly break fast 9 days every ramadan so to be sure i made up for every ramadan 10 days.

so i had to fast 90 days over for ramadan. just to make sure. becuz i dont know exactly how much i missed. there is also kafara if u did not make up the missed days before the next ramadan. the kafara is feeding a poor for each day u missed.

if she broke fast intentionly without valid excuse then its a sin and she needs to make it up also and make touba. but if she did not had the intention to fast that day in ramadan then u can never make it up.

Shaykh Ibn żUthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about the ruling on breaking the fast during the day in Ramadaan with no excuse.

He replied:

Breaking the fast during the day in Ramadaan with no excuse is a major sin, which makes a person a faasiq (rebellious evildoer). He has to repent to Allaah and make up the day when he broke the fast. This means that if he fasted then during the day he broke the fast with no excuse, then he is a sinner, and he has to make up that day when he broke the fast, because when he started the fast it became binding upon him to complete it, as in the case of a vow. But if he deliberately did not start to fast at all with no excuse, then he does not have to make it up, because that will be of no benefit to him, for it will never be accepted from him. The basic principle with regard to every act of worship that is connected to a specific time is that if it is delayed beyond that time with no excuse, it will not be accepted, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: żWhoever does an action that is not in accordance with this matter of ours will have it rejected.ż And this is a transgression of the sacred limits of Allaah, and transgressing the sacred limits of Allaah is zulm (wrongdoing), and the wrongdoerżs deeds are not accepted. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

żAnd whoever transgresses the limits ordained by Allaah, then such are the Zaalimoon (wrongdoers)ż

[al-Baqarah 2:229]

If he did this act of worship before the time for it began, it would not be accepted from him, and by the same token if he does it after the time for it is over, it will not be accepted from him, unless he had an excuse.

Majmooż Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn żUthaymeen, 19, question no. 45.

And Allaah knows best.
