Al Imaam Ibn Othaimeen (rahimahullaah) says in his Sharh of Hilyatut taalibul 'ilm of Shaykh Bakr Abu Zayd (rahimahullaah)ie., in the Audio recordings, that one shouldn't learn 'Arabic from the Innovator since this will deceive others & deceiving to himself (ie., the innovator). Hence, he should fear Allaah & He will make a way out for him.

As-Salaamu 'Alaykum,

The brother, Abu Mohammad Ilyas Khan Turk, after reading my reply above was very kind to remind me of the following which will add to the benefit in shaa' Allaah:

"Further, we had once asked Abdul-Ilah regarding studying Arabic from someone not upon the Sunnah and he narrated from Shaykh Ubayd - hafidhahullaah - that this is permissible under two conditions:

1) That there is absolutely no person upon the Sunnah available near you for teaching Arabic
2) That you are firmly grounded in the fundamentals."

As-Salaamu 'Alaykum

Following should help in shaa' Allaah:

"Learn Arabic!

One of the reported instructions 'Umar wrote to Abý Mýsý Al-Ash'arý and those under his governance during the former's Caliphate was, "Seek knowledge and understanding of (fiqh) the Sunnah and seek knowledge and understanding of Arabic."
Ibn Abý Shaybah, Al-Musannaf Vol.6 p126.

It is reported that he said, "Learn Arabic, for it strengthens the intelligence and increases one's noble conduct (al-murý`ah)."
Al-Bayhaqý, Shu'ab Al-ýmýn Vol.4 p187.

It is also reported that he said, "Do not learn the language of the non-Arabs, and do not enter upon them in their churches on their festivals, for indeed wrath descends upon them."
'Abd Al-Razzýq Al-San'ýný, Al-Musannaf Vol.1 p411.

It is also reported that he was once circumambulating the Ka'bah when he heard two men speaking in a language other than Arabic behind him. He turned to them and said, "Find some way to learn Arabic."
'Abd Al-Razzýq Al-San'ýný, Al-Musannaf Vol.5 p496.

It is reported that Ubay b. Ka'b ý Allýh be pleased with him ý said, "Learn Arabic just as you learn to memorize the Qurýn."
Ibn Abý Shaybah, Al-Musannaf Vol.7 p150.

It is reported that Ibn 'Umar ý Allýh be pleased with them ý used to hit his children for making language errors.
Tahdhýb Al-Tahdhýb Vol.9 p292.

It is reported that Shu'bah ý Allýh have mercy on him ý said, "Learn Arabic, for it increases the intelligence."
Tahdhýb Al-Tahdhýb Vol.4 p303.

It is reported that 'Attý b. Abý Rabýh ý Allýh have mercy on him ý said, "I wish I were fluent in Arabic," when he was ninety years old.
Al-Dhahabý, Siyar A'lým Al-Nubalý`, in his biography of 'Attý b. Abý Rabýh.

It is reported that Ibn Shubrumah ý Allýh have mercy on him ý said, "Men have never worn a garment more beautiful than Arabic."
Al-Bayhaqý, Shu'ab Al-ýmýn Vol.4 p197

A Man once said to al-Hasan al-Basree (rahimahullah):

يَا أبُو سَعِيْدٍ
"O' Aboo Sa'eed!"

So he responded:
كَسْبُ الدَّرَاهِمِ شَغَلَكَ عَنْ أنْ تَقُولَ يَا أبَا سَعِيْدٍ

"The earning of Dirhams has occupied you from (correctly) saying 'O' Abaa Sa'eed'."

The above was taken from:

Also there is an extensive video course on Madinah Arabic Books. It takes you slowly and steadily, step by step through the books and has many benefits as the person teaching has much experience teaching non-Arab crowd as well as his background himself, which many Arab teachers teaching non-Arabs might lack severely. As the medium of teaching is English and language being taught is Arabic which requires the teacher to have command of both languages, its grammar and other things related to it. And the brother teaching is not a student of knowledge nor someone who has been exposed to da'wat-us-salafiyyah hence he makes rhythmic poems out some language principles for the sake of memorisation which are very annoying, which can, if one is able, be disregarded for the overall benefit of his knowledge and experience in teaching Arabic.

http://www.lqtoronto.com/videodl.html.

Just a warning to users, in one of the DVD's the brother recommends Hamza Yusuf, the scholars have refuted him and inaddition this LQToronto.com institute is a soofee, milaadee, free-mixing centre (Talimul-Islam). So users of the below videos are advised about this and warned that they stick to the madina arabic videos only from this institute.

Allaah knows best.

If any of the brother on the forum think there is something inappropriate in this then I sincerely ask them to correct me.
