As Salaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah.
Sorry for my ignorance ( I am a new Muslim), but I have heard that the Major works of Hanafi Fiqh were written/compiled hundreds of years after the death of Imam Abu Hanifa...is this in essence correct...can any examples be provided? My local Masjid is hardcore Tablighi Jammat & I am very much out on a limb. Also the Imam is Urdu speaking only.

Wa Salaam

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah

Wa 'alaykum u salam wa rahmatullaahi wa baarakatuhu, Abu Sofia,

All Praise is due to Allaah who guided your heart to the only religion He will accept on the Day of Judgment. May Allaah keep you on this religion, and may Allaah take your life upon it.

If you're a new Muslim, then it is undoubtedly better for you - my dear brother in Islam - that you concern yourself with and focus on 'Aqeedah (creed, belief), learning and prioritizing Tawheed and that which opposes it so as to avoid falling into it. [Tawheed is singling out Allaah in that which is specific to Him.]

Tawheed is what Allaah (subhanahu wa taa'ala) commanded all the Messengers ('alaihim u salam) to start with, and the seal of them, Prophet Muhammad, (sal allaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) taught his companions (radiallaahu 'anhum) Tawheed almost exclusively for the first 10 years. The salat (prayer) was commanded during the 11th year in Makkah and it wasn't until after the Prophet's migration to al-Madinah that zakat, fasting, Hajj, 'Umrah, adhaan, congregational salat, and other rulings were sent down. So before the companions performed the salat, or gave zakat (alms), or fasted Ramadan or made Hajj, or performed Jihaad in the battle field, they had rectified their 'aqeedah and had thoroughly learned Tawheed.

As the scholars have taught us (may Allaah have mercy on those genuine scholars who have died, and preserve those genuine scholars still living), if the 'aqidah (creed, belief) is incorrect, then there is no benefit from the acts of worship. And, sadly, many Muslim today are negligent regarding this weighty matter. Today, you find Muslims even belittling 'aqidah (the foundation of which is Tawheed) and therefore not giving it the attention it deserves. And Allaah's Help is sought! And, my brother in Islam, I don't want you to fall into this trap that many have fallen into.

Read - may Allaah guide you - what Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan (hafidhahullaah) said about this matter:
quote:
The correctness of aqeedah is the (most) fundamental principle. This is because bearing witness that Laa Ilaaha Illa Allaah Wa Anna Muhammaddan Rasool Allaah (there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His Messenger), is the first pillar of Islaam. And the Messengers called firstly, to the correction of the aqeedah because all acts of worship and behavior depends on it and without the correct aqeedah, there is no benefit from (these) deeds. The Most High said:

But if they had joined in worship others with Allaah, all that they used to do would have been of no benefit to them. - Al-An'aam (6):88

And their deeds became invalid.

And Allaah ('azza wa jall) said: Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allaah, then Allaah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Dhaalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers) there are no helpers. - Al-Maa'idah (5):72

And the Most High said:

And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad (sal allaahu 'alaihi wa sallam)), as it was to those (Allaahýs Messengers) before you: 'If you join others in worship with Allaah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.'  - Az-Zumar (39):65

From these texts and other than them, it is clear that the correction of the aqeedah is from the important (affairs) and at the forefront of the daýwah...From this, we have evidence that deeds are not accepted except after the correction of the aqeedah.

And this is for the one who says: That the eemaan is sufficient without having interest for the aqeedah.

This is contradictory because eemaan is not eemaan except if the aqeedah is correct. And if the aqeedah is not correct, then there is no eemaan, and (there is) no deen (religion).

So my dear brother in Islam, ask Allaah for guidance, and seek out those (Salafees) in your area who prioritize Tawheed and sit with them.
