Some narrations regarding fasting on 'Ashura':
Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) was asked about observing As-Saum (the fast) on the tenth day of Muharram, and he replied, "It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year.' #1
Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) observed Saum (fasting) on the day of 'Ashura' and commanded us to fast on this day. #2
Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said, "If I remain alive till the next year, I shall also observe fast on the ninth of Muharram.' #3

I believe that the 9th of Muharram falls on a Saturday as to the fasting of the 1st 9 days of Dhul-Hijjah...
My question is what is the ruling on fasting on these days? As I was informed there is a hadeeth prohibiting fasting on a saturday...
There seems to be many doubts regarding this as it's not from the obligatory fasts. Could someone please clarify this?
