بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم Pardon me if I miss something or don't understand the question, unless there are certain cases we don't know of, then what does it matter? I think most of us in that time were in the same boat as the knowledge here in the West was almost zero and those who were so called du'aat were nothing but Qutubis and surooris calling to themselves and their da'wah which was disguised in the name of salafiyyah. Al hamdu lillaah those who were seekers of the truth came through and those who were seekers of other than that fell off and we all know who they are and they know themselves.
