Topic: Did Ibn Taymiyyah write this?

  Hafiz Ibn Taymiyyah writes,

"In the same way as 'Abd Allah ibn Umar's foot became numb and he remembered the one he loves the most, 'Abd Allah Ibn 'Abbas's foot also became numb. Someone also advised him to remember the one who he loves the most, whereupon 'Abd Allah Ibn 'Abbas exclaimed 'Ya! Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and his foot immediately recovered from numbness"

[Ibn Taymiyya, Al Kalim al Tayyib, chapter on 'Khadirat Rijluhu']

If he did, isn't this shirk? Pls clarify ASAP. Jazakalla.

These doubts have been refuted by Shaykh Salih Aal ash-Shaykh hafidhahullah in his book "Hadhihee Mafaahimuna" (These are our notions)

Firstly the narrations with wording "Ya Muhammad" are not authentic. Secondly, the wording says to remember and not make tawassul. There is a clear difference. Shaykh Saalih mentioned few lines of poetry which were famous with the Arabs of Jaahiliyyah and it was a method of curing that was known by the Arabs. i.e. when their foot became numb, they would remember the one most beloved to them which would get them excited (and there would be good blood circulation) and their numbness would go away.

WAllahu aalam. InshAllah one of the Taalib ul ilm could answer with more details.
