Topic: Having close friends who study from the people of innovation

  As salaamu Alaikum,

This is a genuine question and I would be very grateful for your help. Many of you may be aware the obsession us youth have with the likes of Al-Maghrib Institute and people such as Yasir Qadhi etc. If it is told to them to stay away from the likes of such people or do not attend their seminars for such and such reason their answer usually is 'Oh but he studied at the Islamic University in Madeenah' 'But he comes on Islam Channel' or even worse 'I would take from him, I don't see what is wrong with him'

Well I am confused because Islamically I have to strengthen the ties of sisterhood, is that correct? But what if these sisters are studying from the likes of these people, what is my position with them then? Must I stop talking to them, or just not discuss Islam with them.

Jazakallhu Khairan

  wa 'alaikumus-salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

I don't know if this audio from TROID (may Allaah preserve it upon good) would answer your question exactly, but it should help a bit at least, insha'Allaah:

An important Q&A session from the Seminar 'Holding on to Islaam in Times of Fitnah' (Oct '08, Toronto, Canada). Our good brothers, Abu Hakeem and Abu Khadeejah address some questions concerning some of the groups and personalities of the day who clothe themselves with the garments of Ahlus-Sunnah, as-Salafiyyeen whilst cooperating with Ahlul-Bid'ah. Important questions are posed concerning Yaasir Qadhee, Abu Usaamah and the al-Maghrib institute.

  Sheikh Muhammad al-Banna hafidhahullaah used to advise that first step advise those concerned with proof and beautiful preaching and if they accept the advice then well and good. If they do not accept and show pride, arrogance and rejection then what is upon the Messenger except to convey the message. With this type do not argue and move on to someone more likely to accept the advice.
Allaah knows best.

قال تعالى:{إنا نحن نزلنا الذكر وإنا له لحافظون}

  JazakAllahu Khair

Oh Allah! I seek refuge in You from greif and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and from being overcome by men (and other people) [Sahih al-Bukhari 7:158]
