  As-Salaamu' Alaikum wa'Rahma tu'Llahi wa berta khatu,

Is it authentically reported that the wives of the Prophet Muhammad (sal'Allahu'alayhe wa'salaam) were all under one dwelling but having separate individual, rooms? I ask this because a brother mentioned this being permissible in the issue of the fiqh of an akh having more than one wife.

Is the hadith were the Prophet Muhammad (sal'Allahu'alayhe wa'salaam) went to all of his wives in one night referring to separate rooms or separate housing arrangements??

Baarak-Allaahu Feekum - wa sal-Allaahu wa-sallam 'alaa Nabiyyinaa Muhammad,
was-Salaam 'alaykum wa-Rahmatullaahe wa-Barakaatuh.

This question was answered by sh Fawzee in the Philly Q&A cds compiled by the brothers @ troid

http://www.troid.org/store/cds/lectures.htm

one of the questions were:
Q. A sister says that her husband has two wives and forces them to live in the same home. Is it permissible for her to ask for a khula' due to this and also is it permissible for him to have them both in the same house like this?

what the shaykh said, in summary is, that as long as they have their own seperate facilities (sleeping, bathroom, kitchen etc) and they AGREE to this living condition then it is ok.

Please get the cds if you can or try to see if one of the brothers in your area has the cds and you will find a detail answer
