On the request of a brother who has a asmatic condition and occassionally utilises a asmtha inhaler:

Are there any known fataawa concerning the topic title by our mashaykh?

If so then please do not hestitate to respond to this thread...

I heard sh. 'abdl-muhsin al-ubaykaan on the radio this week being asked about this and he said it is something that breaks the fast, so if it is possible to delay its use to after maghrib time then do so, otherwise use it and make the day up later, as an asthema attack is an illness that is an excuse for breaking the fast.

and i remember other fataawee from the scholars all similar in meaning, from them: Sh. Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have Mercy on him).

And Allaah knows best.

MaashaAllaah a brother also reserched the following fatwa... JazaakAllaahu khayran

Question:

What is the ruling on a fasting person using an inhaler for breathing problems, and does it break the fast?

Answer:

This spray is vaporised and does not reach the stomach, so in that case, we say that there is no objection to using it when you are fasting, and it will not cause you to break your fast, because as we have said, none of its particles enter the stomach. Since it is something that is defused and vaporised, and it disappears, then none of it reaches the stomach, therefore it is permissible for you to use it when you are fasting and the fast is not invalidated by it.
