my legal name is Raheem;and some people tell me it is not permissable to have this name except that it be preceded by Abdul;but some salafi's say it is okay.One salafi Imam told me it is allowed,and one of the proofs is where Allah refers to the PROPHET (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) as RA'UF & RAHEEM.PLEASE GIVE ME A definate answer with the proofs,because it is making me uneasy.I only want to please my Lord. BARAKALLAHU FEEKUM.

The word "raheem" has a good meaning, someone who is merciful. We have been encouraged to be "raheem" in our dealings with the youth, the elders, our wives and children, and the people in general, Muslims and non-Muslims alike. However, I don't know of anyone of the Companions or early Muslims who were named "Raheem". This does not mean it is not permissible or discouraged. Allaah refers to Himself as "Raheem", and He has referred to some of His Creation as "raheem", thus it is not one of His Names that are exclusively for Him alone, like "Rahmaan". Thus, the imaam of your masjid with his proof from Allaah's Book is correct, and people who say otherwise are the ones required to show proof to prevent the use of this name. And I believe naming yourself "Abdur-Raheem" is better since it reflects your relationship of servitude to Allaah clearly, may Allaah bless you. And Allaah knows best.
