Ashrafil-Anbiyaa?e wal-Mursaleen, wa ba'd:

as-Salaam 'alaykum wa-Rahmatullaahi wa-Barakaatuhu,

What is the Islaamic ruling on visiting the kuffaar when they are sick and/or when they die? Is it allowed for a Muslim to offer his condolences to the relatives of the kaafir when someone from his family dies?

wassalaamu 'alaykum.

Assalaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuhu ,

I reuest the brothers to please reply to this topic if they have information about it or atleast ask the 'ulamaa about it for those who are able to, since this is an issue which we & i think most of us living in kuffaar countries face & many muslims are unaware of the Islaamic etiquette regarding this issue.

JazakAllaahu khairan .

  Assalaamu Allaykum,

I was just looking around at Shayk Saalih Al-fawzaan's website and I came across a Fatwa concerning visiting the kufaar, accepting their gift etc...

Inshallah; it would be nice if one of the brothers can translate it  for everyone; barakallah feekum.

Question:

Answer:

What is the Ruling concerning visiting the Disbelievers and accepting gifts from them and standing in Janazah prayer over them and congratulating them on their occasions [celebrations]?

To visit the disbelievers for the sake of calling them to Islaam, then there is no problem with it, for indeed the Prophet [sallallaahu Alayhi wa sallam] visited his uncle Abu Taalib at the time of his death and invited him to Islaam [look at Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree [2/98] from the hadeeth of Sa?eed Bin Musayyib from his father [radhia Allaahu anhumaa] and he [sallallahu Alayhi wa sallam] visited the Jew and invited him to Islaam [look at Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree [2/97] from the hadeeth of Anas Bin Maalik [radhia Allaahu anhu], as for visiting the disbelievers for the purpose of happiness and companionship then verily it is not permissible and that is because it is obligatory to hate them and abandon them and it is permissible to accept their gifts and that is because the Prophet [sallallahu Alayhi wa sallam] accepted some of the gifts of the disbelievers, like the gift of Muqaaqas the king of Egypt [look at Nasbur-Raayah [4/124-224] and look at  Zaadul Ma?aad [3/196-296] ] and it not permissible to congratulate them in their occasions of celebrations and that is because it is an indication of having love for them and a belief in their falsehood.
