Bismillaah al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu 'ala rasulullaah Amma ba'd Every Muslim should be warned of the oppression of [the statements]: "I", "My/Mine", "I Possess." Indeed these three words are what Iblees (Shaytan), Fir'awn and Qaroon were tried with. Iblees said: "I am better than him." Fir'awn said: "Is not mine the Kingdom of Egypt." Qaroon said: "This has been given to me only because of knowledge I possess." So regarding the saying of the slave of Allaah "I", then the best that he can be described with is:
So regarding the saying of "My/Mine" and those statements similar to that is:
So regarding the saying of "I Possess":

... of course without the ghuluw' of jamaa'at at-tableegh who say, and it seems to be one of their catch phrases, "And I ... I seek refuge with Allaah from the word "I"... I was going to such and such place..." Since our Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) used to use the word "Ana" (I) without seeking refuge with Allaah from it. The point is the context, not the word itself, as illustrated by al-'Allaamah Ibn al-Qayyim in the mentioned quote. Instead, seek refuge with Allaah from straying from the clear path of His Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) into paths of deviation that only lead to the Hellfire.
